Performs in a security department providing security for all hospital functions

Responsibilities: 1. Performs duties as security officer
1.1 Wears issued uniform properly along with all issued equipment
1.2 Patrols Hospital and grounds and checks locked spaces on a routine basis
1.3 Observes unusual activity that may become a security concern
1.4 Responds to all requests for assistance by Hospital staff
1.5 Escorts visitors throughout the facility
1.6 Maintain a visible presence in and around the hospital
1.7 Lock all doors, according to schedule
1.8 Maintain the security of the secured doors and areas
1.9 Make frequent patrols in and around hospital, looking for unauthorized persons in restricted areas, maintenance problems and unusual activity
1.10 Complete reports and make notifications to the proper persons
1.11 Monitor parking lots, especially during shift change
1.12 Respond to all radio calls and pages
1.13 Make shift reports and record all unusual activities and incidents in proper logs
1.14 Offer assistance to staff, patients and employees, when needed
2. Maintains a public presence of security
2.1 Interacts with Public in a positive manner responding to requests and providing general guidance to the public on security and access issues
3. Responds to all incidents of aggressive patients and visitors
3.1 Responds to altercations with patients, visitors and staff and properly uses Defensive Resources in accordance with hospital Use of Force Policy
3.2 Applies MOAB and CPI principles to all parties involved with the incident. Maintains respect for patients and visitors at all times and assists in deescalating incidents through calm demeanor.
3.3 Works with local law enforcement on response situations where warranted.
4. Follows all hospital rules and regulations
4.1 Understands Hospital SOP for restraint application, commitment against will situations.
4.2 Takes orders from medical staff in applying any restraints or physically restraining any person
5. Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
5.1 All required safety education programs have been attended.
5.2 Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions.
5.3 Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
6. Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens
6.1 Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
6.2 Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
6.3 Completes annual safety education modules.
6.4 Demonstrates an understanding of established emergency, infection control procedures.
7. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
7.1 Interacts with all of the above in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner as observed by Manager and peers.
7.2 Fosters mature, professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
7.3 Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
7.4 Maintains open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
7.5 Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
7.6 Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by Hospital policy.
7.7 Continuously displays a ?can do? attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place in the Hospital.
8. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department?s/unit?s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
8.1 Conducts staff meetings.
8.2 Supports the Hospital?s mission, policies and procedures through attendance and participation at committee meetings, if applicable.
8.3 Utilizes automated system to communicate inter and intra departmentally, as appropriate.
8.4 Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments as observed by Manager.
8.5 Reports to work on time and is at work as scheduled, as observed by manager.
High School Graduate or GED required
Previous law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred
CPI, MOAB, Defensive Resources (Baton, Handcuffing, and OC Foam), and Restraint Certification must be obtained within 6 months
Familiarity with Microsoft office products. Must be competent with computer skills.
