Summary:
Responsible for the administration and direction of the Ambulatory Care Center, GI Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, IV therapy, and Pre Admission testing program. Responsibilities include

Responsibilities:
  • 1. Clinical Competence in Patient Care
  • 1.1 Is able to assist staff in all clinical areas.
  • 1.2 Performs and documents a comprehensive assessment of patient needs incorporating physical cultural and spiritual domains.
  • 1.3 Provides individualized goal directed care to patients with consideration of the aging processes of populations served.
  • 1.4 Collaborates with other members of the patient care team to evaluate patient outcomes and determine alternatives as needed.
  • 1.5 Has a knowledge and ability to utilize all computer applications required.
  • 2. Safely Administers Medications and IV Therapies
  • 2.1 Adheres to the 5 R?s of medication administrations and has knowledge of medications administered.
  • 2.2 Follows correct procedure for administration/documentation and waste of controlled substances.
  • 2.3 Assesses and documents patient response to administered medications.
  • 2.4 Identifies and appropriately responds to adverse reactions.
  • 2.5 Demonstrates skill in accessing + maintaining peripheral IV?S, PICC lines, and implantable ports.

  • 3.1 Demonstrates evidence of professional growth by education thru attendance at seminars and in-services related to field of practice, and on hospital and unit committees.
  • 3.2 Researches unfamiliar procedures, diagnosis, medications, and shares findings.
  • 3.3 Acts as a resource to staff, patients and their families/significant others. Plans and assess orientation for new employees.
  • 3.4 Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to safety of the organization and specific job related hazards.

  • 7.2 Responds to customer?s issues/requests in a clear concise and timely manner utilizing active listening skills and validating information. Investigates occurrences.
  • 7.3 Promotes positive intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
  • 7.4 Maintains confidentiality with respect to patient, co-worker and hospital information by disclosing information only on a ?need to know basis? and discussing information in appropriate areas. Follow HIPPA guidelines in all communications regarding patients.

  • 8.3 Demonstrates fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources. Develops with the Director Dept. operations budget and addresses variances.
  • 8.4 Obtains + maintains appropriate levels of equipment + supplies. Assures all equipment in optional working condition. Works with vendors/purchasing to obtain competitive pricing.
  • 8.5 Collaborates with other departments to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery.
  • 8.6 Interacts positively with physicians. Develops cooperative relationships.
  • 8.7 Evaluates staff performance, identifying strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • 8.8 Reviews + develops Dept. policies.

    Other information:

    EDUCATION:

    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BS/BSN required.


    EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum 5 years experience in acute care setting. Previous experience in leadership/managerial role.


    LICENSURE:

    Current license RN ? state of RI ACLS/PALS
