Performs radiographic procedures within assigned areas in accordance with department protocols.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities: 1. Performs all diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures within assigned areas. 1.1 Performs radiographs in a prompt and professional manner as observed by supervisor and staff and patient feedback. 1.2 Performs radiographs in an efficient manner with a minimum occurrence of repeat filming as indicated by not more than five repeats per year. 1.3 Appropriately selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis to produce optimal radiographic images with no more than three documented errors/year as observed by supervisor. 1.4 Positions patients properly for requested examination with no more than three documented errors per year as observed by radiologist. 1.5 Appropriately provides radiation protection in accordance with radiology department policies as observed by supervisor, staff and patient feedback. 1.6 Demonstrates competence and proficiency with all equipment within the diagnostic area as observed by supervisor and staff and patient feedback. 1.7 Displays complete technical knowledge of all diagnostic procedures as observed by supervisor and staff and patient feedback. 2. Reviews all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures. 2.1 Reviews all radiologic consults for information or special instructions as observed by radiologists, medical staff and supervisors. 2.2 Performs clerical duties i.e., updates patient files, records, consults as required with no more than five errors per year and noted by staff feedback. 2.3 Completes billing procedures accurately with no more than five errors per year reported. 2.4 Is familiar with all contract media used in specific diagnostic studies and completes all necessary paperwork for contrast study and is aware of reactions and reports any incidents to radiologist and supervisor . 3. Performs preventative visual and manual inspections for each radiographic room/equipment assigned ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness. 3.1 Performs daily room/equipment inspections. Reports all necessary problems to appropriate individual as indicated by random review of equipment log. 3.2 Replaces any used supplies immediately after patient is dismissed as observed by the supervisor. 3.3 Executes cleaning of examination room before and after patient examination and shift change as observed by the supervisor. 3.4 Notifies supervisor of any needed supplies to ensure continual supply. 4. Participates in the training and development,instruction of staff and radiology students. 4.1 Monitors student techs in the performance of their clinical duties in accordance with program guidelines, as observed by clinical coordinator. 4.2 Willingly and conscientiously provides instructions to ancillary personnel as assigned and noted by supervisor and feedback from staff. 5. Demonstrates basic leadership skills and professional growth. 5.1 Demonstrates ability to function in any position within assigned areas to ensure continuation of patient services as required as observed by supervisor. 5.2 Consistently maintains good working relationships with co-workers and demonstrates a willingness to assist staff in performing radiographic procedures or other related duties as needed as observed by supervisor. 5.3 Willingly accepts additional assignments and responsibilities as required as observed by supervisor. 5.4 Always demonstrates proper, efficient communications (both in person and by telephone) and listening skills and responds accordingly as evidenced by feedback from staff, students and as observed by supervisor. 6. Accurately enters all applicable information into the computer system and charges for procedures. 6.1 Verfies all information for accuracy and completeness and reports all errors to manager. 6.2 Enters all patients ordered information into the RIS according to department protocol with no more than five errors as observed by manager. 6.3 All studies are started completed and charges appropriately and immediately after procedure time. 7. Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients. 7.1 Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies development theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 7.2 Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from toddler to adolescent, and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the child patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 7.3 Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from infant to toddler and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the child patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 8. Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan. 8.1 Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor. 8.2 Participates in the CPI process/shift management reports and Q.A. activities according to department guidelines. Other information: EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from a qualified Radiology Program.
Minimum of 3 years experience preferred
State of CT Licensure. ARRT (R)
Current CPR certification
