Summary:
The Magnet Specialist will provide leadership in the identification, planning, and evaluation of American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program aligned organizational initiatives. Work includes monitoring the organizational performance of nursing -sensitive outcomes against nationally-reported benchmarks and progress toward attainment of performance standards necessary for ANCC Magnet re-designation. The Magnet Specialist will collaborate with nursing leaders and practice partners in the development and monitoring of strategies to improve nursing-sensitive outcome performance in all inpatient and outpatient nursing practice settings. The Magnet Specialist will work under the direction of Magnet Integration Manager

Responsibilities:
  • 1. Serves as an organizational leader in the identification, planning and evaluation of Magnet aligned initiatives
  • 1.1 Works collaboratively with service line leaders (such as nursing directors, managers) and organizational leaders (such as performance and quality improvement departments)
  • 1.2 Designs strategies to support measurable performance improvement initiatives sensitive to nursing practice
  • 1.3 Monitors the organizational progress toward all sources of evidence as defined in the ANCC Magnet Application Manual
  • 1.4 Monitors the organizational progress toward all empirical outcomes as defined in the ANCC Magnet Application Manual
  • 1.5 Provides direction for nursing strategy in partnership with senior nursing leadership pertaining to Magnet ? aligned initiatives in the Nursing Strategic Business Plan
  • 1.6 Provides mentorship to individual Nursing Shared Governance Clusters related to Magnet framework
  • 1.7 Partners with service line leaders in establishing nursing-sensitive measures and outcomes and developing mechanisms to improve respective nursing-sensitive indicators in all nursing professional practice environments
  • 1.8 Provides consultation and collaboration to stakeholders on the development of measurable data outcomes for Magnet aligned projects/initiatives
  • 1.9 Communicates organizational performance of patient satisfaction and employee engagement as defined by the ANCC Magnet Application Manual requirements
  • 1.10 Collaborates with nursing leadership to respond to the evolving needs of the nursing professional practice environment
  • 1.11 Partners with the nursing data management office to understand the performance of the organization related to nursing-sensitive outcomes
  • 1.12 Communicates organizations progress and performance to meeting the empirical outcome standards necessary for the ANCC Magnet recognition program
  • 2. Implements and monitors nursing and Magnet?related project plans
  • 2.1 Coordinates educational sessions related to evolving Magnet program requirements to ensure organization enculturation of Magnet framework
  • 2.2 Effectively communicates status of project timelines with stakeholders
  • 2.3 Collaborates with nurse leaders, quality teams, and Shared Governance councils to design and implement strategies to ensure annual Magnet strategic goals are met
  • 3. Independently executes components of the Magnet re-designation strategy
  • 3.1 Collaborates with subject matter experts to write Magnet sources of evidence for inclusion in the Magnet re-designation document
  • 3.2 Actively participates in the planning and execution of Magnet site visit activities
  • 3.3 Serves as an internal Magnet program expert and mentors Magnet committee participants to ensure competency related to the Magnet framework
    Other information:

    EDUCATION:

    BSN minimum with Masters of science in nursing, MSN, or Masters related field- required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    At least 5 years of active nursing experience, with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities in a complex care environment. Previous experience with ANCC Magnet recognition program required. Current CT Registered Nurse License.

    LICENSURE:

    Current CT Registered Nurse License.

Demonstrates a passion for nursing quality and outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to successfully lead teams, initiatives, and change processes. Demonstrates ability to foster positive relationships among teams and department. Must be a team -player with flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities, has history of managing multiple simultaneous projects.
    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    The incumbent is accountable to maintain an understanding of the ANCC Magnet program requirements and serve as a content expert for the organization.
