Performs pulmonary function, billing, calibrations, and maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities: 1. Calibrates and maintains equipment to ensure accurate results. 1.1 Performs daily calibration of pulmonary function testing equipment 00% of the time as observed by the supervisor. 1.2 Changes chemical reagents as needed as observed by the supervisor. 1.3 Performs routine monthly maintenance as outlined in manual as observed by the supervisor. 1.4 When equipment is not working properly, uses diagnostic steps outlined in the manual and takes necessary action to correct problem 100% of the time as observed by the supervisor. 1.5 On a daily basis, performs cold sterilization of tubing, mouthpieces and valves as observed by the supervisor. 2. Performs exercise studies and pulmonary function tests to aid in the management and diagnosis of patients. 2.1 Performs accurate, precise pulmonary function testing (inclusive of above) daily, 100% of the time as observed by the supervisor, applies age-specific criteria. 2.2 Explains all procedures and steps to patient prior to testing, as observed by the supervisor. When appropriate applies age specific criteria in performance of duties. 2.3 Accurately and precisely transcribes pulmonary function results to proper form 100% of the time as observed by the supervisor. 2.4 Performs monitoring of respiration and oxygenation. 3. Assists in submitting charges for services to ensure proper accounting for patients bills. 3.1 On a daily basis, assists in submitting proper charges to billing department.
Requires an AS or BS degree in a science or preferably Respiratory Therapy. Requires Connecticut License as a Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) certified before October 1997 or a licensed Registered Nurse.
A licensed Respiratory Therapist or Certified Pulmonary Function Technician or a licensed Registered Nurse with at least one year of experience in their specified field.
RRT, CRT, or RN
The technologic development and advances in the field of pulmonary medicine require up-to-date knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing. Computer literacy and strong mathematical skills are also desired.
Expected to perform accurate monitoring and testing and collaboratiion with pulmonary MD team
Calibrates and maintains equipment to ensure accurate results. Performs pulmonary function tests to aid in the management and diagnosis of patients. Plans and schedules testing and assists in resolution of equipment and programatic issues in the department.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
