A professional Registered Nurse who is accountable for the planning and administering of direct nursing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with hospital policy, and in collaboration with other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities: 1. Essential Functions
1.1 Assesses the patient''s physical and psychological condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Documents appropriately the information obtained from the ongoing assessment. Shares significant assessment data with the appropriate discipline.
1.2 The hemodialysis staff nurse, in addition to the performance responsibilities of a staff nurse, is skillfully trained and is expected to maintain acceptable standards of practice within the area of Hemodialysis nursing..
1.3 Uses critical thinking skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Demonstrates basic clinical and technical skills according to established standards of practice. Anticipates potential changes in the patient''s status and assesses the patient accordingly.
1.4 Evaluates the effectiveness and patient''s response to the plan of care. Identifies appropriate nursing activities which contribute to the patient''s progress towards achieving both short and long term goals.

Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing
Three-five years of medical /surgical nursing- or two-three years of current dialysis experience. Previous critical care experienced preferred
Current licensure by the RI State Board of Nursing Certification in Renal care or CCRN preferred BLS ACLS
Ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and other members of the healthcare team Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Basic computer knowledge is preferred Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
