Performs selected patient care duties and may assist other care providers under the direction of an R.N.. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrates teamwork in performance of daily role. 1.1. Willingly and flexibility accepts adjustments in duties and/or responsibilities as assigned. 1.2. Promotes a positive image through ongoing participation in the change process. 1.3. Exercises positive communications and collaborations with interdisciplinary team members to achieve goals. 2. Performs the duties on an Endoscopy Tech. 2.1. Sets up procedure room for endoscopic procedures according to prescribed method under direction of an RN. 2.2. Responsible for maintaining par levels and linen availability in procedure room as observed by supervisor. 2.3. Assists RN intra-rpocedure with holding, turning and applying pressure as directed by physician and RN. 2.4. Brings patient to procedure rooms and hooks patient up to monitors and unhooks patient from monitors post procedure, under the direction of an RN as observed by supervisor. 2.5. Cares for specimens as per established policy and procedure as directed by RN. 2.6. Monitors functions of all mechanical equipment - suction set up, Bovie water pump and scopes. 2.7. Assists in removing dirty scopes and equipment and cleaning procedure room, per policy, post endoscopic procedure as observed by the supervisor. 2.8. Assists RN in cleaning patients and changing soiled linen post procedure as needed as observed by supervisor. 3. Maintains unit environment. 3.1. Reports repair needs to appropriate person and follows through to ensure repairs are completed as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 3.2. Completes unit specific environment skills checklist as assigned and by random supervisory review of completed checklist. 3.3. Collects soiled linen and trash following established schedule and as needed, as observed by supervisor. 3.4. Distributes delivered supplies to designated areas of Endoscopy section. 4. Performs other related duties as needed and/or directed. 4.1. Transports patient/supplies as required for patient care as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff. 4.2. Orders needed supplies bi-weekly as observed by staff. 4.3. Transports instruments/specimens as directed and as observed by supervisor. 4.4. Prepares and sets up travel cart/transports cart to designated areas of the hospital as directed by RN and as observed by supervisor. 4.5. Willingly assists other members of health care team as directed as observed by supervisor. 4.6. Performs clerical duties as appropriate to area. 4.7. Performs scope cleaning as needed and as observed by supervisor. 5. Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in daily performance of role. 5.1. Relocates and rotates to meet patient care needs 100% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.2. Completes patient related duties in a timely manner 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.3. Completes assignment in a timely manner 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.4. Participates in a minimum of 8 unit staff meetings each year as observed by supervisor. 5.5. Assumes responsibility for delegated activities 100% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.6. Identifies areas in performance needing improvement 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.7. Sets specific realistic goals for self-improvement 90-95% of the time as reviewed by supervisor. 5.8. Completes mutually agreed upon goals in a designated timeframe 90-95% of the time as reviewed by supervisor. 5.9. Maintains skills applicable to the unit 100% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.10. Records attendance at educational programs on appropriate form 100% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.11. Accepts constructive criticism and responds by implementing corrective action 90-95% of the time as observed by supervisor. 5.12. Takes breaks and lunches as scheduled and reports off to supervising RN following established department and Hospital policies and procedures. 6. Completes non-therapeutic functions under the direction of MD, PA, APRN or RN. 6.1. Remove medication(s) from the pneumatic tube system sent from the Pharmacy or Hospital Supply to the unit/patient care area. 6.2. Immediately deliver the medication(s) from the pneumatic tube system to the appropriate Registered Nurse, Physician, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner. 6.3. As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, remove IV solutions from the patient care area's clean utility room and immediately deliver to the appropriate licensed practitioner. 6.4. As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, stock IV solutions in the patient care area's clean utility room. Other information: EDUCATION:
High school diploma required.
A minimum of 5 years of related experience required.
Certified Nursing Assistant required.
Certification CBSPD required after one year of employment. 20 CEUs required yearly related to HLD/Endoscopy Tech role.
Good interpersonal skills, Must have command of English language both reading and writing, Successful completion of orientation.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are occasionally required to sit. They must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
