Summary:
To coordinate and deliver medical nutrition therapy and educational services, in a patient focused care environment. Work directly with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
  • 1. Assesses patients' nutritional status per department policies and standards.
  • 2. Develops and implements medical nutrition care plans for assigned patients and documents in the electronic medical record. Evaluates effectiveness of the care plans.
  • 3. Provides medical nutrition education to patients and families. Provides other educational services as assigned.
  • 4. Attends patient focused care rounds. Coordinates patients' medical nutrition cares plans with other team members.
  • 5. Reviews, calculates, and modifies patients' menus for nutritional adequacy and accurate meal delivery.
  • 6. Assists the Senior Dietitian in continuous quality improvement by developing and selecting educational materials and collaborating with other health professionals in the development of programs.
  • 7. Performs other duties as assigned, i.e. participating in committees and attending meetings, supervising dietetic interns.
    Other information:

    EDUCATION:

    B. S. from an ACEND accredited program.

    EXPERIENCE: Clinical experience as a RD preferred.
    LICENSURE:

    RD or RD- eligible. Must obtain CT state license within 6 months of hire.

    SPECIAL_SKILLS:

    Strong communication skills, both written, and oral.
    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Maintains dietetic registration. Operates within scope of practice. Adheres to HIPAA regulations.
    COMPLEXITY:

    Learning time Six months.
    PHYSICAL_DEMAND:

    Multi unit office, kitchen, and patient care areas. Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, talking on the telephone, lifting less than twenty pounds, close eye work.
