This position will be in Interventional Radiology and will support inpatient and ambulatory care needs of the department.

Responsible for conducting pre-placement physicals and providing medical care to employees with work-related injuries and illnesses, including bloodborne pathogen exposures. Monitors health status of employees receiving Workers'' Compensation benefits and assists their return to work under appropriate conditions.
Responsibilities: 1. Conducts routine pre-placement histories and physical examinations with attention to physical limitations which would affect an employee''s ability to complete the essential functions of their job, or for which reasonable accommodation should be made. Performs urine drug testing as part of pre-placement evaluations. 2. Provides initial and continuing medical care to employees with work-related injuries or illnesses. Appropriately processes accident reports. 3. Assists employees with work-related conditions, assigning work restrictions and working with managers to arrange modified duty assignments when appropriate. Assists employees who have missed work days due to an injury or illness with re-integration into the workplace. 4. Makes decisions regarding fitness for duty with respect to infection control. 5. Evaluates employees with potential bloodborne pathogen exposures, including ascertainment of source patient information, serological follow-up, and consideration of and treatment with antiviral prophylactic medications in accordance with current CDC Guidelines. 6. Coordinates the follow-up of employees evaluated initially through the YNHH Emergency Department for bloodborne pathogen exposures. 7. Performs routine medical surveillance tasks including PPD monitoring and administration of vaccines. 8. Works with the Health and Safety Coordinator to investigate and recommend corrections of situations that threaten employee safety. 9. Assists with operation of Occupational Health Services to assure smooth flow of patients and treatments. 10. Participates in independent project development as assigned by Medical Director. Performs other job related assignments as necessary.
BS or BA degree and graduation from an approved Physician''s Associate Program.
One (1) to two(2) years in a surgical/orthopedic/medical/occupational medical setting with experience in the triage, treatment and management of work-related conditions.
Excellent clinical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Accountable to conduct accurate and appropriate pre-placement evaluations, work-related injury diagnosis and treatment, and bloodborne pathogen exposure evaluations.
Coordinates appropriate treatment and follow-up of bloodborne pathogen exposures initially evaluated in the YNHH Emergency Department. Develop occupational medical protocols in keeping with current recommendations and standards. Work with medical director on special projects as assigned.
