Summary:
Performa a wide range of activities associated with the distribution and recovery of hospital linens. Unloads Linen trucks, weighs clean and soiled linen coming in and out of facility, stocks linen exchange carts, distributes linen and associated materials to departments and recovers soiled linen from units for transportation back to the linen plant.
Responsibilities:
1. Receives bulk Linen deliveries from linen plant.
a. Acknowledge receipt of delivery from driver.
b. Weigh and record clean linen on the dock scale.
c. Delivers clean linen to the main linen room.
2. Stocks linen exchange carts.
a. Counts existing linen par levels on exchange carts.
b. Fills exchange carts and baskets from bulk linen supplies to par.
c. Records the amount stocks on the cart or basket.
d. Weights linen exchange before and after filling to par.
3. Exchanges linen exchange carts or baskets
a. Delivers exchange carts of baskets to appropriate patient care unit
b. On the unit, removes previous exchange cart or basket and places in appropriate storage area fully replenished exchange cart or basket
c. Brings exchanged linen cart for basket back to the linen room for restocking.
4. Recovers soiled linen
a. Visits every patient room and unit to recover soiled linen bags
b. Handles soiled linen bags in accordance with infection control policy
c. Soiled linen is placed in special soiled linen carts
d. Soiled linen carts are weighed and documented
e. Soiled linen is stored in the soiled linen room until the soiled linen truck arrives from Unitex where the vendor transports them back to the plant.
5. Miscellaneous Tasks
a. Responds to requests for extra or additional linen and associated materials deliveries to patient care units
b. Maintains organization and cleanliness of linen room in accordance with infection control and regulatory readiness procedures
c. Performs additional duties as directed
6. Maintains the YNHHS standards or professional behavior

Other information:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED
EXPPERIENCE: 1-2 years of linen operations experience preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS: Inventory mathematics skills (e.g. addition, subtraction, division, subtraction), ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff. Strong customer service skills.
ACCOUNTABLE: Accountable for accuracy of par levels on all carts baskets. Accountable for the documentation of linen weights and linen issuances to carts and baskets. In personal and job related actions consistently demonstrated the values of integrity (doing the right thing), patient centered (Putting patients and families first), respect (valuing all people and embracing diversity), accountability (Being responsible and taking action), and compassion, (being empathetic).
COMPLEXITY : Responsible for performing a variety of routine assignments in accordance with established procedures
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND: Must be in good physical condition due to the amount of heavy lifting and cart pulling required. Also, this position requires standing for long periods of time.
