Provides support functions to the department specific to the process of cleaning equipment, maintaining inventory and ordering of supplies. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities: 1. Disassemble, clean, prepare equipment for sterilization. 1.1. Wash, rinse, dry and prepare for sterilization any dirty equipment returned to the department. All processedequipment must be completed during the shift as observed by the supervisor and feedback from staff. 1.2. Deliver and pickup sterilized equipment from central supply by 11:00 a.m. daily and place on shelves for use as observed by supervisor. 1.3. Maintains a clean and orderly work area as observed by supervisor. 1.4. Inventories and orders any necessary cleaning supplies including HiTor and Cidex as required as observed by supervisor. 1.5. Organizes and maintains equipment areas to enhance work flow as observed by supervisor. 1.6. Pick up soiled instrumentation from designated floors and bring back to CSS in a timely manner to ensure quick processing. 1.7. Pick up of containers from MOR. Clean and replenish filters and tags. 1.8. Glass wash pick up from laboratory and is cleaned, pH tested, documented and delivered to labs. 2. Maintains inventory and minimum par levels of all disposable equipment items. 2.1. Inventories and places orders for all necessary disposable supplies needed for equipment. Reports any issues to Supervisor or Manager. 2.2. Demonstrates organization of paperwork when instrumentation are delivered to dept. either from offsite clinics or external Drs. offices. 3. Responds to requests (routine or urgent) by dept. members with delivery of equipment to the patient care area in need. 3.1. Respond to urgent calls for delivery of equipment within fifteen minutes as indicated by feedback from staff and as observed by supervisor. 3.2. Responds to routine calls for pickup or delivery of equipment by end of shift as indicated by feedback from staff. 3.3. Sets up and tests equipment when appropriate within department that has been stripped/cleaned (equipment such as pumps) as indicated by staff feedback and as observed by supervisor. 3.4. Monitor specific equipment for point of entry areas (pumps). 3.5. Logs patient charges for equipment used. 4. Notifies Biomed as appropriate for any equipment malfunctions/or damages. 4.1. Maintains very regular communications with Biomed reporting equipment in need of repair and return status as observed by supervisor and dept. manager. 4.2. Notifies dept. manager or supervisor when equipment for repair is damaged and needs to be replaced as observed by supervisor/Manager. 5. Completes non-therapeutic functions under the direction of MD, PA, APRN or RN. 5.1. Place IV solutions in appropriate storage area within Central Supply. 5.2. Deliver Code Carts and/or Procedural/Case Carts to appropriate patient care area. 5.3. Verify eye wash flushes are tested and documented weekly. 5.4. Delivers CSS on-call list every Friday to MOR and L&D.
High school diploma or equivalent; PC literate.
One year relevant experience.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. They are occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. They are occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
