Performs a wide range of equipment supply and furniture delivery services, operates electric tow vehicles and records work assignments all in support of patient care.
Responsibilities: 1. Delivers, loads, unloads and transfers bulk supplies, IV solutions, equipment, furniture, food and line, to ensure adequate inventory and storage of same. 1.1. Accepts bulk supplies, IV solution, furniture purchase orders and personal packages via the warehouse truck, unloads, loads truck and inventories all items in preparation for distribution as observed by supervisor. 1.2. Organizes supplies for distribution received from the warehouse and informs staff of next order of delivery as observed by supervisor. 1.3. Monitors hospital Receiving Dock for deliveries from outside vendors, and loads/unloads supplies and equipment acting as signing agent for the hospital as appropriate as observed by supervisor. 1.4. Delivers and unloads bulk supplies, IV solutions, Central Supply items, to designated departments and nursing divisions obtaining full signatures for all items delivered as monitored by supervisor. 1.5. Delivers clean linen and food, hot and cold, utilizing appropriate carts or trucks to inpatient areas and cafeterias according to current time and location schedules as observed by supervisor. 1.6. Assists in the interdepartmental transfer of office furniture utilizing cars, dollys and hand lifts as assigned and as observed by supervisor. 2. Transfers dirty linen from linen chutes to transporting trailer eo ensure timely turnaround on bulk linen deliveries. 2.1. Clears linen chutes of dirty linen, loading dirty linen into linen trucks, while appropriately dressed in barrier protection according to Universal Precautions policy as observed by supervisor. 2.2. Transfers loaded linen carts by hand or electric tractor to transport trailer and loads carts onto trailer as observed by supervisor. 3. Operates electric tow tractors and scooters ensuring safe operation at all times. 3.1. Operates electric tow tractors used in the transport of supplies, food and linen cars, observing vehicle safety policy and procedures at all times as observed by supervisor. 3.2. Inspects electric tractors and scooters prior to use, observing the departmental vehicle inspection policy as observed by supervisor. 4. Assists in the processing of contaminated Central Supply items to ensure proper decontamination. 4.1. Removes contaminated Central supply items from designated patient care areas, observing barrier protection and Universal Precautions procedures, and returns these items to Central Supply for decontamination as observed by supervisor.
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Six (6) to twelve (12) months experience in this position, or a position performing related duties.
Operate a variety of materials handling equipment.
Incumbent held accountable for completing assigned duties in a timely, accurate manner, and operating material handling equipment and delivery vehicles in a safe manner.
Responsible for performing a variety of routine assignments in accordance with established procedures.
