This person will assist in the processing of samples from receipt through testing, including all associated documentation and recordkeeping, helping to ensure that all steps are completed in a thorough and timely manner and to communicate promptly to the Microbiology Technical Specialist when tasks are complete, problems arise and/or something is or seems out of compliance. They will assist in maintaining thorough, complete and timely documentation and recordkeeping as requested by the Microbiology Technical Specialist regarding any microbiology test that is routinely performed and thus does have established documentation procedures. They will occasionally assist with preliminary data analysis as needed under the guidance of a Senior Laboratory Technologist. They will assist as needed under the guidance of the Microbiology Technical Specialist various microbiology tasks, including but not limited to sample preparation and handling.
Responsibilities: 1. Process samples from receipt through testing, including all associated documentation and recordkeeping 2. Assist with preliminary data analysis as needed under the guidance of a Senior Laboratory Technologist. 3. Assist with , under the guidance of the Microbiology Technical Specialist, various microbiology tasks, including but not limited to sample preparation and handling.
4 Year Bachelor Degree in microbiology, biology, or environmental sciences. Minimum of four college semester hours in general microbiology. Minimum two years experience in a laboratory environment
Basic microbiology knowledge; aseptic technique, experience micropipetting, preparing solutions and media for microbiology applications, proper sample handling for microbiology and molecular analyses, thorough and prompt lab documentation, ability to read, understand and follow lab protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), attention to detail, and open and prompt communication.
