. The Nursing Assistant assists inpatient care throughout nursing areas, and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
Responsibilities: 1. Essential Functions
1.1. Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel and according to their standards of practice.
1.2. Communicates to licensed personnel any changes noticed inn patients condition, or any problems with treatments or devices.
1.3. Assists with basic patient care including but not inclusive to AM and PM care, vital signs, toileting, I&O, feeding, activities of daily living, transport of patients throughout hospital, responds to call lights promptly and provides necessary assistance. Orients patients and families to the unit - sets up equipment in patient?s rooms to prepare for admissions.
1.4. Maintains clean and orderly patient care, storage, pantry and utility areas.

2.3. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department to provide quality patient care.

High school graduate or equivalent
Previous hospital or nursing home experience a plus
Current RI Nursing Assistant License Basic Life Support
Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals Knowledge of basic medical terminology a plus Basic computer knowledge is a plus Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
