Responsible for assisting in the coordinating of laboratory QA/QC program; performing QC data collection and verification; assisting in lab operations and staff development activities
Responsibilities: 1. Quality Control and Quality Assurance 1.1. Update annual lab QA plan. 1.2. Prepare annual QA Summary of results. 1.3. Maintain documentation of ongoing section quality assurance studies and insure all sections are
following lab QA plan. 1.4. Provide documentation 9 (reports) of lab QA activities to Hospital QA Department. 1.5. Represent the Laboratory on committees, CQI teams, as appropriate. 2. QC Data Collection 2.1. Perform data collection and submission for periodic Q-Probe, Q-Track, other events 2.2. Monitory Laboratory Log daily for needed corrective action 2.3. Review morning reports 2.4. Monitor turnaround times for critical tests 2.5. Monitor submission of inappropriate samples 2.6. QC correlations and statistics 3. Verification 3.1. Verification of instrument and computer printouts for CAP. 3.2. Verify comparability of results from different testing sites 4. Proficiency Testing 4.1. Distribute testing events to sections, insure on-time receipt and return 4.2. Maintain files of all testing results with documentation of review and corrective action as appropriate 5. Staff Assessment and Personnel Documentation 5.1. Coordinate mandatory inservice activities for lab, documenting compliance for all employees, utilizing
the M3 Learning Module (Provide M3 training as needed) 5.2. Coordinate documentation of competencies for new employees and annual appraisals 5.3. Maintain CME documentation for lab employees 5.4. Assist with acquisition and utilization of CME resources 6. Laboratory Operations 6.1. Assist with development of Billing codes/test codes 6.2. Monitoring reference lab work 7. Personal Career Growth 7.1. Identifies own learning needs 7.2. Attends inservice programs and outside educational programs 8. Quality Attributes 8.1. Motivates staff of all types and levels to perform and function at their optimum capacity 8.2. Actively promotes the quality attributes of teamwork, fiscal responsibility, accountability, patient focused
care, flexibility; creativity and leadership and required by the Hospital's Mission Statement
BS in Medical Technology or equivalent.
Two years experience preferred.
Understanding of regulations for all laboratory governing organizations ie CAP.
Actively romotes the Hospital's and the Department's Mission, Vision, Values and Goals.
Working in a normal clinical laboratory environment. Works under stressful conditions; interpersonal and
computer skills required.
