Plans, designs, develops, implements and monitor surveillance studies for purposes of continuous quality improvement and infection surveillance in collaboration with the Co-Medical Directors of Quality Improvement Support Services encompassing Hospital Epidemiology (HE) and Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI). Monitors data for inconsistencies and provides feedback to surveillance personnel. Provides consultation on study design, data collection tools and pilot testing. Provides high level statistical analysis such as regression analysis, variance analysis, statistical inference, and other appropriate statistical tests. Familiar with computer programs including but not limited to Excel, Access, SPSS and other CQI software. Independently prepares statistical reports and computer graphics.
Responsibilities: 1. Data Collection 1.1. Collaborates on the planning, designing, developing, implementing, and testing of monitoring systems. 1.2. Provides expertise on data collection methods including the content and format of standard and computerized data collection forms. 1.3. Works closely with surveillance personnel on data collection systems, trouble-shoots problems and assists in developing monitoring systems to improve the quality of data and the access to information. 1.4. Manages and Analyzes Data. 1.5. Monitors CQI and HEIC data and provides feedback to surveillance personnel on missing, omitted and inconsistent data. 1.6. Develops, implements, and monitors tracking systems to ensure high quality data. 1.7. Provides standard and more complex statistical analysis and independently chooses appropriate statistical methods. 1.8. 1.9. Designs and formats reports for physicians and other clients. Works with Medical Staff Office to prepare recredentialling reports. 1.10. 1.11. Uses parametric and nonparametric models, regression analysis, variance analysis, sequential analysis, statistical inference, and other statistical tests as appropriate to analyze data. Uses QI techniques such as flow charting, Pareto charts, causeeffect diagrams, etc. to support the work of Quality Improvement teams. 1.12. 1.13. 1.14. Provides computer expertise and training in the use of Excel, Access, SPSS, EPI INFO, Visio Standards and other statistical CQI software programs to support the work of departmental staff. 1.15. 1.16. Chooses appropriate computer graphics for use in presentations and reporting including histograms, pie charts, scatter plots, process control charts and other computer graphics as appropriate. 1.17. 2. Consultation 2.1. Plans, designs, implements and assist in monitoring all activities associated with data collected for mandated reporting to The Joint Commission, DPH, and other department indicators. Provides consultation to supporting departments related to data collection and presentation, including the Medical Staff Office and other Patient Safety and Quality related initiatives. 3. Professional Development 3.1. Pursues professional growth through publications participation in in seminars and conferences related to the evaluation of healthcare outcomes. Keeps knowledge current and recommends changes in processes, practices and systems to enhance efficiency, productivity and accuracy of data and reports. 3.2. Assist QISS staff, researchers and students with study design and statistical expertise.
Masters Degree in Statistics or a Masters Degree in Public Health or MBA with an emphasis in statistics.
Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant experience in summarizing , analyzing and reporting clinical information. Experience in performing statistical analysis including regression analysis, histograms, variance analysis, parametric and non-parametric models and statistical process control.
Excellent quantitative and analytic skills. Excellent computer skills and experience using Excel, Access, SPSS and other CQI software tools.
Responsible for collaborating on study design, data collection methods, pilot testing, monitoring data for inaccurate and missing data, and data analysis using appropriate statistical methods and computer graphics and software tools.

Consults on study design and format and anticipates needs of clients. Provides computer expertise and training in the use of Excel, Access and other statistical programs.
