The Interventional Psychiatric Services Technician (IPS Tech ) utilizes the process of planning, intervention while caring for our patients maintain confidentiality and dignity. The IPS Tech assists clinicians in providing safe, effective evidence based care tailored to the individual needs of the patient and family. As a core member of the Interventional Psychiatry Services delivery team, the IPS Tech will administer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and administer rating scales under the direction of a licensed and trained clinician. The IPS Tech will also manage an electronic data base, effectively interact with patients and documents all clinical interactions.

Responsibilities: 1. Safety and Emergency Management: Responds appropriately to patient and hospital based emergency situations. 1.1. Performs all assigned patient care procedures safely following the hospital's policies and procedures. 1.2. Ensures patient and family confidentiality at all times. 1.3. Summons assistance in emergency situations as outlined in the hospital's policies and procedures. 1.4. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients. 1.5. Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics. 1.6. Consistently practices infection control and standard precautions techniques. 2. Procedures and Therapies: Performs designated procedures under the supervision of the Physician or LIP. 2.1. Standard maintenance of the TMS devices 2.2. Familiarity with standard established protocols for device specific TMS delivery 2.3. Identify appropriate sites of TMS stimulation using established protocols. 2.4. Ability to identify appropriate levels of stimulation using established protocols. 2.5. Ability to accurately document procedures and actions 2.6. Conduct evaluations and ratings for clinical and cognitive outcomes. 2.7. Assist in management and maintenance of patient registry to improve long-term outcomes. 3. Leadership: Refines communication skills with patients, families and multi-disciplinary health team members, develops professional relationships and demonstrates increased professional accountability. 3.1. Reports to unit on time. 3.2. Provides proper notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness. 3.3. Presents neat appearance in professional nursing attire and with hospital identification. 3.4. Introduces self to patient and family as the patient's IPS Technician. 3.5. Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal communication skills. 3.6. Communicates information that is accurate and concise. 3.7. Collaborates and consults with team members regarding patient care. 3.8. Interacts effectively and constructively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure a positive work environment. 3.9. Communicates in a professional manner to colleagues and works toward resolution of issues and concerns. 3.10. Seeks assistance/supervision appropriately. 3.11. Accepts direction and feedback constructively. 3.12. Participates in service based staff meetings and educational initiatives. Assist where needed in quality improvement, scholarly, and educational activities associated with IPS.
Bachelor's in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry or similar field preferred.
Experience working with the psychiatric population preferred. Experience with the delivery of TMS in a clinical setting preferred. Familiarity with psychiatric rating instruments preferred.
Work in a full time position and assigned to work with the multidisciplinary team to provide patient care. Utilizes and manages material resources in a cost-effective manner.
The IP Tech will perform selected task and under the direction of a licensed and trained clinician.
