Disassembles, cleans, assembles and distributes equipment according to prescribed procedures. Ensures established standards of shared patient care equipment is cleaned before use and that all used or contaminated equipment is appropriately cleaned before reuse. Participates in the management and maintenance of equipment inventory.
1. Makes rounds at least twice daily to all nursing units and clinics to collect and return soiled patient reusable equipment and instruments. Ensures assigned reusable medical equipment used for patient care is cleaned using approved hospital disinfectants, detergents and cleaners. Disassembles and reassembles equipment for cleaning. Informs supervisor of lost or damaged parts such as tubes, containers and connectors for reorder. Completes written Bio-Medical repair tags for broken equipment and delivers inoperable equipment to Bio-Med for repair. 2. Keeps assigned work area clean and organized as required in maintaining a safe work environment. Stores new and reprocessed equipment in room L-191. Cleans shelves and mops up liquid spills from floor as necessary. 3. Performs and maintains inventories on assigned equipment, tracking and assuring equipment is functional, clean and available upon request. Communicates to supervisor making visual inventory inspections when replacement supplies are needed. 4. Reusable patient care equipment will be identified by use of a white band which indicates that the item is clean. Wears protective attire 100% of the time when performing decontamination activities as observed by supervisor. 5. Performs cleanings on stretchers and wheelchairs updating information into the computer program "Aero Scout Mobile view". Maintains schedule of cleaning this equipment on a monthly basis. Updates tags attached to each stretcher and wheelchair with the last date of cleaning. 6. Use time productively and ask's for direction when work is caught up. Makes suggestions on methods of improving the use or care of equipment. Trains in other areas of Materials Mananagement to assist when requested and fills in other positions during PTO time.
High School Diploma or GED
Experience within a healthcare environment preferred.
Must be able to read, write understand and communictae in English. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to carry out directions, must be flexible, cooperative and able to meet the demands of the position using appropriate communication techniques.
Adheres to dress code, is neat and clean. Represents organization in a positive and professional manner. Is a self starter, demonstartes efficiency by setting priorities in relation to product flow.
Good interpersonal skills with patients, staff and co-workers.
Standing/walking most of the day. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
