Participates in technical duties directly involved with the CT scanner including developing, initiating, and monitoring procedures for the effective utilization of this unit. In direction of the departmental protocols and working under the direction and supervision of the radiologist, gives IV contrast according to the guidelines set forth within the department for specific procedures
Responsibilities: 1. CT Competency for each Procedure
1.1. Prepares patient in scanner for proper position.
1.2. Performs IV access using sterile technique for administration of contrast.
1.3. Knowledge of anatomy physiology to obtain diagnostic images.
1.4. Ability to change parameters ie: slice thickness/DFOV/Technique
2. Time Management
2.1. Works timely, efficiently, independently and completes tasks.
2.2. Makes every attempt to add on patients when asked by physicians office and front desk.
2.3. Ability to multi task and work under stressful condition if needed.
2.4. Performs other work related duties, takes on new responsibilities if asked.
3. Equipment Competencies
3.1. Maintains safe functioning, operation and cleanliness of CT equipment.
3.2. Understanding how to troubleshoot equipment when necessary.
3.3. Reports any equipment problems or safety issues to appropriate personal.
3.4. Ability to deviate from protocol when necessary.
4. Patient Competencies
4.1. Assumes responsibility for the safety and well being of all patients.
4.2. Allows patients the opportunity to ask questions and effectively communicate answers.
4.3. Follows Aidet.
4.4. Always respects and follows patient's rights.
5. Contrast Injection Competencies
5.1. Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and procedures and correct use of Medrad Stellant Injector.
5.2. Ensures that a contrast consent form is signed every time contrast is given.
5.3. Checks creatinine level on all patients when applicable and discusses concerns with Radiologist before proceeding with injection.
5.4. Charges and logs contrast appropriately in Synapse, Affinity and patient log.
6. Department Competencies
6.1. Assists the daily operations of department.
6.2. Maintains patient log and all other necessary paperwork.
6.3. Ability to utilize Affinity, Pacs, EMD Scanner, Synapse and scheduling program.
6.4. Insures requisition, MD orders and patient history are complete.

8.4. Ability to work well with others in the Radiology department and other areas of the Hospital.
Requires formal training in radiology technology of AMA-approved program.
Minimum of three to four years of radiologic experience and special procedures experience preferred. One year of exposure or training in CT to be proficient.
Registration by the A.R.R.T. as an RT (R)(CT) preferred and state licensed. If not RT(CT) certified then obtain registration in Cat Scan within twelve month timeframe of hiring. CPR certification (BLS) required
Cross sectional anatomy IV training (preferred but will consider training)
