Summary:
Responsible for the department's microsite content development, maintenance and results reporting in order to raise philanthropic support for Yale-New Haven Hospital through online giving, special event registration and social media outreach and networking. He/she will work with both internal and external customers to ensure that areas in need of funding are properly represented using Web technology. With his or her technical aptitude and problem solving skills, the Web Specialist will be the primary point of contact regarding microsite support and will perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have: 5+ years experience in a mktg/comm role with emphasis on electronic media. Experience with web programming and markup languages. Basic HTML required. Experience w/online giving and an understanding of how online content, communications and appeals drive fundraising results. Excellent communication skills including advanced writing & editing skills. Prior experience with donor or consumer centric copy writing & website content management desirable. Experience using CMS, Raisers Edge, and Luminate.

Responsibilities:
  • 1. Manage production and maintenance of visually appealing, easy-to-navigate and informative Microsite(s)
  • 2. Coordinate site design, layout and content relevancy, consistency and timeliness in conjunction with manager
  • 3. Ensure content integration with other communication and fundraising channels ? direct mail, public relations and publications
  • 4. Effectively utilize graphics, video, photography and other content to engage constituents in support YNHH's mission
  • 5. Ensure high level of site usability and effectiveness for e-mail registration and personalized content, ease of donation process and ability to access information about special/fundraising events
  • 6. Maintain and execute online calendar for e-mail appeals/communications to donors
  • 7. Create and maintain unique/personalized online fund raising tools for donors/volunteers (Friends asking Friends)
  • 8. Recommend strategies to increase web traffic, email contacts and donations via the website
  • 9. Manage all online projects, developing and tracking timelines and defining resources required for these projects
  • 10. Acts as a primary liaison between external vendors including Blackbaud, creative agencies and internal departments such as, YNHH IS&T Departments and Technical Support
  • 11. Leverage technical understanding of all phases of Web development and design to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • 12. Interface with Web site software companies and Blackbaud to create site modules and troubleshoot problems
  • 13. Create and update web pages using content management tool
  • 14. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in online giving and email communications; propose strategy adjustments accordingly
  • 15. Track and maintain online donation forms and provide fresh, fund specific e-mail acknowledgement copy on an ongoing basis
  • 16. Provide monthly updates on key metrics including Web site traffic, email fundraising, growth and profile of e-mail file, and other online activities as requested
  • 17. Track email and online activity, work with managers, outside developers and others to ensure reliable, high-quality solutions to issues as they arise
  • 18. Create and maintain Raiser's Edge statistical reports specific to microsite
  • 19. Develop strategies and maintain production calendar for successful donor email appeals and general information blasts in conjunction with agency and/or manager
  • 20. Provides detailed/timely analytical reports for rapid identification of trending in donor behavior and online giving using Raiser's Edge, WebTrends or Google Analytics
  • 21. Responsible for maintaining appropriate Dev. presence through various social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter
  • 22. Oversee email appends to donor files and collaborates with Dev. Services to ensure data integrity standards are met
  • 23. Coordinate several projects at once and successfully meet all expectations and deadlines

    Other information:

    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field required

    EXPERIENCE:

    5+ years experience in a marketing/communications role with emphasis on electronic media
    Experience with web programming and markup languages. Basic HTML required
    Experience with online giving and an understanding of how online content, communications and appeals drive fundraising results
    Excellent communication skills including advanced writing and editing skills. Prior experience with donor or consumer centric copy writing and website content management desirable
    Experience using a CMS
    NetCommunity (Raisers Edge) experience desired

    SPECIAL_SKILLS:

    Must have excellent computer skills including hands on experience with software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and various Content Management Systems for web development
    Experience with web programming and markup languages. Basic HTML required
    Working knowledge of fundraising software/donor database (Raiser?s Edge)
    Technical experience with interface capabilities and web based software applications for (YNHH) architectural platforms
    Ability to collaborate with external vendors and YNHH Marketing Department to ensure adherence to YNHH brand, image and message standards
    Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities
    Able to work independently and to meet production deadlines with limited supervision
    Understanding of the development process, particularly annual giving via multiple channels
    Ability to firmly and fairly manage technical, creative and project specific vendors (e.g. Amergent) in order to provide direction and feedback for optimum performance and results
    Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of YNHH administration, staff and benefactors
    Commitment to the mission of Yale-New Haven Hospital
    Ability to work flexible schedule and weekends as needed
    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    The Development Web Specialist directly influences fundraising efforts by providing wide ranging support and project management for departmental communications with particular emphasis on website management and online giving strategies. Also responsible for meeting deadlines to develop, design, implement and monitor microsites within Yale-New Haven Hospital that are specific to online giving and the Development Department. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting mircosite technical issues after business hours.
    COMPLEXITY:

    Requires creative and analytical thinking to aid in the management and production of compelling web content, email solicitations, publications and general departmental communications. Extremely high degree of organization and oversight of details needed to coordinate internal and external scheduling of projects. Requires the ability to understand the larger picture and long range departmental and Hospital goals
