Summary:
Performs a variety of technical procedures that require the utilization of specialized angiographic equipment for the
delivery of interventional procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may
be assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • 1. Operates Specialized Radiographic Equipment for proper technique and processing of specialized radiographic images
  • 1.1. Operates all special procedure equipment, angiographic injectors and associated patient monitoring
    equipment in accordance with manufacturers instructions as observed by supervisor.
  • 1.2. Reports any malfunctioning and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures in accordance
    with departmental guidelines as observed by supervisor.
  • 1.3. Consistently demonstrates the ability to perform simple troubleshooting and repair as observed by
    supervisor.
  • 1.4. Demonstrates competent and proficient use of the Hospital Picture Achieving System (PACS) as observed by the supervisor and Radiologist
  • 2. Employs special imaging techniques to enhance the diagnostic quality of the radiographic image.
  • 2.1. Performs radiographs with a minimum occurrence of errors through the selection of appropriated
    technical factors.
  • 2.2. Performs radiographs with a minimum occurrence of errors as a measure of patient position
  • 3. Utilizes angiographic catheters and guide wires as required.
  • 3.1. Assists with the selection and preparation of catheters and guide wires according to departmental protocols as indicated by physician feedback and supervisory observation.
  • 4. Performs patient care, prior to procedure.
  • 4.1. Always thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient as indicated by patient feedback and
    supervisory observation.
  • 4.2. Addresses patients' concerns, and answers pertinent questions with empathy and concern as
    indicated by patient feedback and supervisory observation
  • 5. Responsible for the scheduling/coordination of patient scheduling
  • 5.1. Provides clinicians, office staff and patients with preparation orders prior to scheduled appointment as
    indicated by staff and patient feedback.
  • 5.2. Effectively coordinates patient activities with nursing and other imaging departments to assure
    appropriate, efficient patient service, as indicated by patient and hospital staff feedback.
  • 6. Maintains records as directed.
  • 6.1. Completes appropriate forms at the completion of all special procedures in accordance with
    department guidelines as indicated by random supervisory review of forms
  • 7. Transfers and positions patients and provides immobilization as needed.
  • 7.1. Controls the positioning and transferring of patients undergoing special radiographic examinations in
    accordance with departmental protocols as observed by supervisor.
  • 7.2. Uses immobilization devices in accordance with departmental protocols as indicated by physician
    feedback and supervisory observation.
  • 7.3. Transfers, positions, and immobilizes patients with empathy and concern as observed by supervisor.
  • 8. Assists with the instruction of special techniques for staff and residents as directed.
  • 8.1. Instructs new staff members in special techniques and use of specialized instrumentation/equipment
    in accordance with department protocols as observed by supervisor.
  • 9. Administers all types of x-rays in support of the general diagnostic area for peak volume loads.
  • 9.1. Follows the prescribed techniques in administering all types of x-rays in support of the general
    diagnostic area for peak volume loads as requested and observed by supervisor.
  • 9.2. Will assist diagnostic imaging when necessary and requested by supervisor
  • 10. Assists with the procurement, inventory and storage of supplies.
  • 10.1. Reviews inventory levels periodically to assure adequate levels of inventories as observed by
    supervisor.
  • 10.2. Assist Surgical staff with ordering of supplies as required and observed by supervisor.
  • 11. Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
  • 11.1. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from infant to toddler and applies developmental
    theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the child patient as observed by
    supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
  • 11.2. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from toddler to adolescent, and applies
    developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the child patient as
    observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
  • 11.3. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies
    development theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as
    observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
  • 12. Types all applicable information into the computer system.
  • 12.1. Types all demographic patient information from the consult into department computer according to
    computer program and department protocol with no more than five errors per year as observed by
    supervisor.
  • 12.2. Types all pertinent clinical data from the consult into appropriate section of the computer screen with
    no more than five errors per year as observed by the supervisor
  • 12.3. Visually checks the computer monitor with patient information and reports any errors to supervisor
  • 12.4. Accurately retrieves and updates patient information on computer as observed by supervisor
  • 12.5. Follows downtime procedure according to department protocol as observed by supervisor
  • 13. Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is
    consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
  • 13.1. Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor.

    Other information:

    EDUCATION:
    Graduate of an Approved Radiologic Technologist Program.
    ARRT Certified (R). ARRT (CV) preferred,
    Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum 3 years as a Diagnostic Technologist (preferred for entry level)
    Minimum of 2 years Intervention Radiology experience preferred
    LICENSURE:
    CT License for RADIOGRAPHY
    SPECIAL_SKILLS:
    Detail orientated, ability to work in a fast paced environment, good interpersonal skills with physicians, nursing and other staff. Willingness to work additional hours when needed. Willingness to be flexible with work schedule, computer literate,

    PHYSICAL_DEMAND:
    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger,handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They may frequently be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. They may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation. They are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
