Summary:
Provides supply and physical assistance to the professional staff and department in fulfilling the mission of Rehabilitation Services in providing quality and cost effective care to patients. Assists in keeping the department clean, stocked and in a regulatory ready condition.

Responsibilities:
  • 1. PROFESSIONALISM:
  • 1.1. Presents a professional appearance at all times
  • 1.2. Reports to work on time
  • 1.3. Reports for assignments in a timely fashion
  • 1.4. Willingly accepts assignments for the day
  • 1.5. Requests additional work when not busy
  • 1.6. Works weekends and holidays as required
  • 1.7. Attends all meetings as required
  • 1.8. Performs duties as a team player
  • 1.9. Adheres to department dress code
  • 1.10. Adheres to YNHH Standards of Professional Behavior
  • 2. ADMINISTRATIVE:
  • 2.1. Independently distributes and collects patient satisfaction survey
  • 2.2. Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • 2.3. Uses the Kronos system appropriately
  • 2.4. Completes Kronos exemption log as required
  • 2.5. Makes copies/scanning as requested
  • 2.6. Answers phone in a timely fashion/per department protocol
  • 2.7. Follows proper phone etiquette
  • 2.8. Keeps copies of forms up to date
  • 2.9. Gives advance notice of scheduled time off according to department policy
  • 2.10. Restocks equipment as required
  • 2.11. Inventories equipment and re-orders as needed
  • 2.12. Monitors equipment for safety
  • 2.13. Performs other tasks as requested by manager
  • 3. COMMUNICATION:
  • 3.1. Asks for help as needed
  • 3.2. Assists with orientation of new staff
  • 3.3. Follows through with all communications including returning calls received via beeper and using smart web as another communication mode
  • 3.4. Communicates regularly with the team and professional staff
  • 3.5. Practices 10/5 and AIDET
  • 4. COMPETENCY/REGULATORY/REQUIREMENTS/TRAINING
  • 4.1. Has an accurate understanding and demonstrates adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
  • 4.2. Completes all mandatory training and competencies in a timely manner
  • 4.3. Adheres to Infection Control Policy
  • 4.4. Adheres to Hand Hygiene Policy
  • 4.5. Ensures a safe and clean patient environment
  • 4.6. Complies with HIPAA standards
  • 4.7. Practices within Rehab Associate Scope of care
  • 5. PATIENT CARE DUTIES
  • 5.1. Demonstrates professional conduct/values
  • 5.2. Delivers and retrieves patient equipment when directed
  • 5.3. Provides patient transportation as required
  • 5.4. Provides physical and operational support to therapists
  • 5.5. Prepares patient for treatment and cleans up afterwards
  • 5.6. Assures that equipment is clean before and after use
  • 5.7. Assists therapist with co-treatments
  • 5.8. Assists with ambulation, transfers, exercises and other functional activities
  • 5.9. Able to recognize adverse patient reaction and reports to therapist
  • 5.10. Assists with patient hygiene
  • 5.11. Ensures that rehab work and clinical areas are maintained, tidy and clean
  • 5.12. Performs other tasks as requested by manager

    Other information:

    EDUCATION:

    High school graduate.

    EXPERIENCE:

    One (1) to two (2) years of patient care experience preferred.

    SPECIAL_SKILLS:

    Must be able to accurately read and utilize metric measurements, calibrate and report findings on equipment, setup and maintain a sterile/clean field. Also requires basic computer slills of data entry, email, smart web paging and ability to acess the EMR. Capable of taking phone messages and operating office equipment to copy, scan and fax documents.
    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Has access to restricted patient information and must maintain confidentiality of patient information; able to problem solve conflicts; exhibits strong positive interpersonal skills; adheres to department and hospital policies and procedures; displays self motivation. Responsible for accuracy in the performance of all work..
    COMPLEXITY:

    Has direct contact with patients and staff. Must be capable of developing effective interpersonal relationships with others to facilitate a positive patient experience.
    PHYSICAL_DEMAND:

    Must be able to physically support patients while assisting therapists. Job requires dexterity to perform support services for the therapist. Moderate amount of physical effort required, including (1) intermittent sitting, standing (may be constant at times depending on assignment), lifting, bending, and pushing/pulling, (2) constant walking at times (depending on assignment), and (3) occasional heavy lifting (30-50 lbs). Must be able to maintain a busy pace throughout the day. May involve exposure to blood and body fluids, and patients on varying levels of isolation. Must become adept at all levels of personal protective equipment as required. Able to apply infection control precautions to multiple situations.
