The Education Specialist is an expert in the specialty of nursing staff development responsible for program and curriculum management. Under the direction of the Director, the Education Specialist leads in the design, implementation and evaluation of educational processes which supports education and practice support within Service Lines. The ES builds programs which supports lifelong learning and facilitates the adult learning process. The ES is directly accountable for strategic program development, implementation and evaluation related to core services.
- 1. Develops and implements learning models that increase efficiency and supports quality and safe care.
Implements new and innovative uses of technology to support initial orientation.
Partners with Service Line Educators and Patient Safety Nurses in planning learning strategies that allow for responsiveness to emerging changes and advances in nursing practice.
Develops programs which build partnerships with affiliated schools and facilitates practice readiness.
Leads in the development, implementation design of the use of simulation in nursing staff development.
Develops and designs new teaching-learning methods and educational practices to provide quality educational services.

- 16. Utilizes high fidelity simulation as a primary methodology for experiencial based learning. Utilizes evidence based current simulation educational strategy in the simulation setting. Applies current clinical knowledge to the sim setting and readily develops relevant simulations to foster learnining, teamwork and a culture of safety. Skilled in the debriefing process and underlying theory related to simulation and emerging technology.
MSN preferred. Current Connecticut State RN Nursing licensure required. Relevant certification or demonstrated teaching / staff development experience preferred.
2-3 years of relevant program and/or teaching experience required.
