The primary functions of the Nurse Practitioner will be to provide comprehensive care to the patients and consultation service to the patients direct care team under the supervision of the Attendings., and as directed by established protocols. In collaboration with the Health care team, the Nurse Practitioner will provide continuity of care to patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings to achieve optimal patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
MSN required. Graduate of Nurse Practitioner Program. Current Connecticut APRN license (or eligible).
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Excellent basic knowledge with clinical skills and judgment. Possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, ability to gather relevant clinical date, perform through physical examinations, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, communication and leadership activities and exhibit good judgment and tact dealing with patients, families, and allied health professionals. Computer skills preferred.
Currently Department of Surgery has 3 dedicated Surgical Float APPs who provide both day and night coverage to the Department of Surgery. The Surgical floats provide inpatient and OR coverage. The APP floats ensures continuity of care to patients and provide gap coverage to services lines in the department of Surgery. They are instrumental in ensuring surgical services have consistent APP coverage to decrease resident work hours.
CHANGE as of 1/31/20: schedule will be 12 hour rotating day/night shifts with holiday/weekend coverage rotation as needed.
