The primary function of the Advanced Practice Palliative Care Registered Nurse (APPC RN) is to lead a consultation service in which the nurse will interact with the patient's Direct Care Team and devise patient specific palliative care interventions as needed. This nurse works collaboratively with a interdisciplinary Palliative Care Resource Group, develops evidence based protocols and standards and coordinates continuing education programs for nurses, physicians, social workers, and chaplains.
Graduate of an approved APRN program required. Graduation from an APRN position with concentrated oncology clinicals is preferred.
Experience as an APRN preferred. Oncology RN experience is preferred.
License to practice in the State of CT as a Registered nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or Licensed as a Physicians Assistant. Advanced certification in Adult or Oncology preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of research methods, computer skills required.
Possesses physical and mental heath necessary to care for patients and families. Possesses a full range of body motion, including lifting and handling of adult patients.
