Responsibilities
In accordance with the rules and regulations of Yale New Haven Health, and under the appropriate physician supervision as defined by Connecticut law, the Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for managing all aspects of in-patient care in a multi-specialty surgical unit. The PA will primarily be responsible for preoperative assessments, first-assisting in the operating room, and postoperative patient care and discharge planning. Within physician-PA relationship, the PA will be involved in medical decision making for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. This position may include responsibilities involved with education, research, and administrative services.
An ideal candidate will be effective in demonstrating hand-eye coordination, full range of motion, and manual dexterity; collaborating with physicians and other health care teams; demonstrate knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine; and make responsible clinical decisions within the scope of their practice.
