The Safety and Security Project Specialist is responsible for being a liaison between the Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) and the YNHHS Delivery Network (DN) Safety and Security departments. This position will be responsible for supporting the standardization of security/protective services policies across YNHHS, assisting the OEP with completing safety and security risk assessments, safety plans, and governmental public safety agency outreach. This position will also assist with the development of safety and security exercises. The Safety and Security Project Specialist reports to Director of Emergency Preparedness and works under their immediate direction. In addition, this position has a matrix reporting structure to each DNs Director of Security/Protective Services

Responsibilities

  • 1. Liaise with the YNHHS Delivery Network Safety and Security/Protective Services departments.
  • 2. Provide support for standardizing policies and processes across YNHHS and the DNs related to safety, and security.
  • 3. Facilitate DN collaboration regarding safety and security matters (e.g. security signal codes, report writing).
  • 4. Develop regular performance and progress reports for YNHHS and DN committees (EMSSC, DN Environment of Care, etc.) and present the findings at regular meetings.
  • 5. Facilitate the development of safety and security risk assessments across YNHHS and facilitate the execution of findings.
  • 6. Assist in the roll out and implementation of safety and security across the YNHHS/DN geographic zones.
  • 7. Assist with the outreach to and collaboration with local, regional, and state governmental public safety agencies.
  • 8. Assist with the development and facilitation of safety, and security drills and emergency management exercises.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Bachelor?s degree in public safety, emergency management, public administration, business, or similar field required. Master?s Degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE


A minimum of 10 years direct work experience in safety/security, emergency management or government services. This individual must be able to demonstrate their ability to develop and maintain working relationships with hospitals, healthcare organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies on a regional and national level in order keep up-to-date on current emergency management, safety, and security issues. Possess a working knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, and security funding streams. Demonstrate experience working with large, complex organizations. Demonstrate ability to interpret research and to present on relevant findings through presentations and written products (publications, plans, preparedness toolkits, etc.). Demonstrate experience with standardization and writing of policies and procedures. Demonstrate experience developing a variety or work products including policies, emergency plans, standard operation procedures, as well as planning templates and guidance. Experience with street outreach required.


LICENSURE


State of Connecticut Guard Card required. FEMA ICS / NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 required. ICS 300, ICS 400, and HSEEP preferred.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Demonstrate experience summarizing and reporting information in a clear, organized format with an emphasis on quality, format and attention to detail. Demonstrate ability to locate and catalogue information from relevant sources (federal guidance documents, subjects matter expert interviews, etc.) and to integrate information into summary reports and presentations, including clear and concise recommendations. Demonstrate experience interfacing with high level executives, including participating in meetings, presenting work products and coordinating directly with executives. Ability to work independently and on a team or teams on multi-faceted projects. Ability to switch focus on rapidly evolving projects. Ability to multi-task on current projects while successfully meeting deadlines. Significant experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in public health and/or healthcare organizations preferred. Effective communications, administration, and personnel management skills. Demonstrate ability to set and implement priorities, manages tasks and programs, and evaluates performance. Must be detail-oriented, efficient and possess superior written and verbal communications as well as interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate an ability to be flexible, highly self-motivated and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities. Communicates and demonstrates importance of professional, cultural and individual diversity to project success. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to work and travel independently.
