The Research Associate II, Quality Measurement Programs (QMP), participates in the implementation and reevaluation of national health care quality measures planning, data collection and data analysis for multifaceted research projects in the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. Primary role is to serve as technical writer for specific deliverables for a large Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) funded multi-year contract developing and maintaining hospital quality measures for national public reporting and tracking quality trends. Under the guidance of the relevant sub-task leads, liaises with a diverse team of consultants, statisticians, clinicians, health services researchers, and project staff to meet contract deliverables. Also designs and implements quality control measures to ensure efficient and accurate data collection and processing of data amongst the team. Composes status reports and analysis related to the study. May function as project leader or coordinator of research project. This position can be done via telecommuting.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Lead technical writing of deliverables and tracking past and future changes to standard language used in measure reevaluation and implementation
  • 2. Ensure timely completion of high quality task deliverables (e.g. literature reviews, technical reports , measure forms, communications materials, and papers)
  • 3. Review and sign off on task management plan (timelines with interim deadlines)
  • 4. Track progress and make adjustments to plan, seeking assistance from Associate Director, QMP, or relevant subtask leads when needed
  • 5. Problem solve methodological/team/process issues that arise with relevant subtask leads and statisticians
  • 6. Work collaboratively with project coordinators and research assistants to maintain standard documents, ensure consistent use of standard language across deliverables, and produce high-quality deliverables
  • 7. Support production of communication materials describing project status and results to funding agencies and other stakeholders through briefings, presentations and written materials
  • 8. Assist in drafting and formatting manuscripts
  • 9. Ensure timely reporting responses to public inquiries that are both high quality and accurate
  • 10. Work actively to ensure productive and timely communication with team members

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred or a combination of at least 5 - 10 years of work related experience with bachelors degree.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum five (5) years experience in health care quality field required. Clinical experience strongly preferred. Excellent writing skills as evidenced through peer -reviewed publications or technical reports related to quality measures required. Demonstrated mastery of epidemiology and concepts, of health services research methodology and analytics. Experience responding to technical questions from key stakeholders.

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Comprehensive knowledge of health care quality measurement methods and policy. Comprehensive knowledge of policies pertaining to research studies. Working knowledge of computer software to support research project(s). Well-developed oral and written communication, statistical, organizational, and analytical skills.
