Responsibilities

  • 1. Collaborate on and coordinate with intra-system initiatives for the YNHHS delivery network and the OEP activities.
  • 2. Support the Yale New Haven System (YNHHS) delivery network hospitals, other hospitals and healthcare organizations in the development of all hazards, emergency management and business continuity plans, assessments, risks and vulnerability analysis, incident command system integration, emergency communications, education and drills/exercise.
  • 3. Analyze health and medical emergency management and business continuity plans and annexes for thoroughness and to maintain compliance with the state and national standards and requirements.
  • 4. Develops plans, procedures and guidelines to mitigate, respond and recover from a variety of incidents in response to emergency management, terrorism preparedness and public health emergencies on an organizational/facility, local, regional and national level.
  • 5. Research best practices in the field of emergency preparedness through multiple sources of information including peer review journals, government portals and through OEP activities.
  • 6. Provide leadership in the development of written products and the delivery of presentations based on research and analysis activities.
  • 7. Provide facilitation support and leadership for meetings with hospitals, healthcare organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies on a regional and national level.
  • 8. Represent the YNHHS OEP on emergency management and business continuity committees, as requested, with hospitals, healthcare organizations, governmental and non-or governmental agencies on a regional, national and international level.
  • 9. Assist the OEP management team in other emergency preparedness and disasters response initiatives.
  • 10. Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, public Health, public administration, or similar field required. Master's Degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE


3+ years direct work experience in emergency management, preferably in healthcare preparedness. The ability to develop and maintain working relationships with hospitals, healthcare organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies on a regional and national level in order to keep up-to-date on current emergency management and business continuity and disaster response issues. Have a working knowledge of emergency preparedness funding streams relevant to health care and public health agencies/organizations. Understanding of existing local, state, regional and national planning methodologies. Demonstrated ability to interpret research and to present on relevant findings through presentations and written products (publications, plans, preparedness toolkits, etc.)


SPECIAL SKILLS


Demonstrated experience summarizing and reporting information in a clear, organized format with an emphasis on quality, format and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to locate and catalogue information from relevant sources (federal guidance documents, subjects matter expert interviews, etc.) and to integrate information into summary reports and presentations, including clear and concise recommendations. Demonstrated experience developing a variety of work products including regional plans, standard operation procedures, as well as planning templates and guidance. Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and customers, including participating in client meetings, presenting work products and coordinating directly with clients. Ability to work independently and on a team or teams on multi-faceted projects. Ability to switch focus on rapidly evolving projects. Ability to multi-task on currents projects while successfully meeting deadlines. Significant experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in public health and/or healthcare organizations preferred. Effective communications, administration, and personnel management skills. Demonstrated ability to set and implement priorities, manages tasks and programs, and evaluates performance. Must be detail-oriented, efficient and possess superior written and verbal communications as well as interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate an ability to be flexible, highly self-motivated and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities. Communicates and demonstrates importance of professional, cultural and individual diversity to project success. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to work and travel independently.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


In and out of state travel. May be needed to respond during disaster events.
