Job Description

Consults, facilitates, and assesses development needs of VP level leaders and above, teams and individuals across the YNHHS. Designs and delivers solutions which include executive coaching, team-building, succession management, change management and organizational development. Facilitates organizational assessments and solutions to address business needs. Comfortable working with members of the Cabinet. Able to work effectively with all of the System Leadership teams.



  • 1. Provide strategic and tactical input on design/development of leadership, organization development, succession management and training and development solutions and programs for the health system.
  • 2. Support the Executive Director of Leader Continuity and Talent Development ongoing deployment of the succession management process system wide.
  • 3. With direction from the Executive Director of Leader Continuity and Talent Development, provide system-level support and work with Delivery Network senior leaders in succession management and development planning.
  • 4. Provide individual coaching to senior leaders to impact his/her leadership effectiveness and have direct impact on their business goals. Coordinates and manages relationships with external coaches.
  • 5. Synthesize psychometric assessments to support leader self-awareness, identify development opportunities to better align development and business goals and increase leader effectiveness.
  • 6. Lead internal/external team projects and provide guidance to Learning and Development Consultants.
  • 7. Independently partner with senior leaders to assess, design, develop and deliver interventions using structured change management approaches to transform organizations. Combine research and experience to understand individuals, business systems, and their interactions.
  • 8. Mentor and guide the education, knowledge and development of the team. Provides developmental insights, mentoring, and consulting to the Learning and Development Consultants and other team members with intent to strengthen and develop Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSAs).
  • 9. Build, maintain and share knowledge about the tools and resources available for colleagues to use as they increase their own skills to better engage leaders. Demonstrate an ability to transfer knowledge in support of team development and leader effectiveness.
  • 10. Undertake efforts to assess and measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives and ROI.
  • 11. Lead educational efforts in support of system-wide performance management, service-line planning and patient-centered initiatives.
  • 12. Consult with system-wide leadership and core skill educational programming that ensure appropriate use of resources, and proper placement of curriculum within the respective educational program suites. Applies instructional methodology to all courses.
  • 13. Represent the Institute for Excellence at system wide platforms and programs, facilitate at the most senior levels of the organization; exhibiting executive leader presence.
  • 14. Undertake individual projects working with cabinet members and other senior leaders to drive strategy and build relationships at every level of Yale New Haven Health System.
  • 15. Guide and support HR Business Partners on various projects (e.g., organizational development, consulting, teambuilding and coaching).



MA or MS Degree required, with major coursework in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Organizational Psychology, Instructional Management, or Organizational Development.


Minimum of 10+ years of related experience. Extensive OE/OD background and strong consulting that is balanced between internal and external consulting. Experience facilitating and managing change on a corporate, global or system-wide level. Extensive experience both in developing and leading leadership development programs and other learning initiatives. Establish efforts to develop a culture that embraces and leverages a model of life-long learning and advancement. Must have minimum of 5 years of progressive experience coaching leaders across the system including executives at the highest levels of the organization. Coaching certification from a major college or program preferred. Practice in identifying performance gaps/areas for improvement, as well as implementing appropriate interventions. Extensive consultative and project management experience including management of vendors. Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. Experience in conducting succession management sessions and place key leaders in next-level roles. Practice implementing all phases of large-scale projects. Comfortable working with thought leaders who have national or international reputations.


Coaching certification required.

Promotes an environment of learning and development with the IFE and throughout YNHHS Ability to adjust in an ever-changing, highly diverse environment Inclusive in thinking and responsive to feedback


Must be able to travel to all Delivery Networks within the YNHHS.
