The Pediatric Clinical Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive care to patients and their families within a specific pediatric specialty (examples include: Diabetes, Endocrinology,Genetics, Neurology, Orthopedics) under the supervision of the Attending Physician of the assigned specialty, and as directed by established standards of care. As a member of the health care team, the Nurse Practitioner provides direct care, and focuses on education to patients and families regarding prevention and/or management of their health status within YNHCH Pediatric Specialty. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with all members of the specialty service and multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide safe,high-quality, evidenced-based care. Some specialtiies many require coordination and/or support in clinical research trials.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
MSN - Graduate of approved Family/Nurse Practitioner Program. Preferrerably a Pediatric Nurse practioner program with concentration in specialty area. Current Connecticut APRN license Certification as FNP, or PNP. Specialty Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years as a NP, PNP Preferred, or similar role in specialty area.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent basic medical knowledge with clinical skills and judgement. Possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, ability to gather relevant clinical data. Demonstrated independent decision making and the ability to initiate with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform thorough physical examinations. possess excellent interpersonal skills: Counselilng, communication, and leadership abilities. Must exhibit good judgement and tact dealing with parents, families, and allied health professionals. Computer skills essential

Additional Information
Experience as a pediatric APRN in GI preferred. Ability to see patients independently provide history and physical, under the supervision of pediatric gastroenterologist. Role will also provide manometry procedures, as well as supervision of infusion therapy for GI patients receiving Remicaide.
