Assists Head Teacher in the planning and executing of a developmentally appropriate program for a mixed age group of infants and toddlers, or preschool aged children.
- 1. Assist Head Teacher in planning, ccordinating and carrying out a program to meet the physical, emotional, social and educational needs of a family grouping of children aged three(3) months to thirty six (36) months, or three (3) to five (5) years in accordance with Center policy. CT Department of Public Health Regulations and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation standards.
- 2. Works closely with other staff to provide an integrated, harmonius environment for the children.
- 3. Supports Head Teacher by maintaining close contacts with parents for daily communication as well as written reports. Participates in periodic parent conferences. Must attend parent meetings and other Center functions when possible.
- 4. Participates in the training of volunteers and students in field placement.
- 5. Assists Head Teacher in maintaining daily recoreds and curriculum plans and providing periodic evaluations of chldren, interns and volunteers.
- 6. Participates regularly in staff and professional projects and meetings. Attends a minimum of twenty-one (21) hours of early chldhood workshops.
- 7. Maintains complete awareness of all children's needs and responds in an effective timely manner.
- 8. Observes, supervises groups of children throughout the day and communicates appropirate information to supervisors, children, parents, and co-workers.
- 9. Maintains health and safety standards in the program in accordance with Hosptial Infection Control, Ct. State Licensing Regulation and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
Associate's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Pediatric Nursing, or related field. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
One (1) to two (2) years' experience in the teaching and care of very young children, or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of principles of child development and child behavior. First aid and CPR training preferred.
Ability to climb up and down stairs, and move from a seated position on the floor to an upright stance. Able to lift 45 lbs.
