The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive care to neonates under the supervision of the Attending Neonatologist as directed by established protocols which are recorded in the NNICU Guidelines. In collaboration with the health care team, the Nurse Practitioner provides continuity of care to neonatal patients during extended hospitalization, as well as contributes to the education of health care professionals.
BSN, (MSN Preferred). Graduate of approved Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program or Peditriac Nurse Practitioner Program. Current Connecticut APRN license (or eligible). Certification as a NNP by the NAACOG Certification Corporation (or NAACOG certification eligible) or certfication as a PNP by the PNCP (Pediatric Nursing Certification Board)
Two (2) years as a staff nurse in a neonatal intensive care unit.

Excellent basic medical knowledge with clinical skills and judgement. Possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, ability to gather relevant clinical data, perform thorough physical examinations, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and leadership abilities and exhibit good judgement and tact dealing with parents, families, and allied health professionals. Computer skills preferred.

APP required to participate in Neonatal Transport Team
