Surgical Physician Assistant - Lawrence & Memorial Hospital - New London, CT
The primary function of a Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) is to provide comprehensive care to patients in collaboration with physicians in the perioperative setting. Each PA has a designated supervising physician as outlined by Connecticut General Statute Sec. 20-12. Exemplifies behaviors reflecting Service Excellence and support of the Strategic Dimensions by modeling the Core Success Factors as described in the Performance Review.

Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program required. Certified as a Physician Assistant/Associate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Must hold a valid Connecticut medical license, Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification.
One (1) to two (2) years prior surgical experience is preferred but not required
Excellent clinical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged. Must be able to withstand the rigors of being on call for long hours. Frequent exposure to blood/body fluids, communicable diseases, biohazards, and other hazardous conditions. Must be able to withstand physically demanding positions for extended periods including but not limited to standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
