Job Description

Overview

Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, is recognized for advanced clinical care, quality, service, cost effectiveness and commitment to improving the health status of the communities it serves. YNHHS includes five hospitals – Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial, Westerly and Yale New Haven Hospitals, several specialty networks and Northeast Medical Group, a non-profit medical foundation with several hundred community-based and hospital-employed physicians.

The Physician Recruiter is responsible for developing and administering strategies for identifying and recruiting physicians and advanced practitioners for Northeast Medical Group.  The recruiter must have a working knowledge of full cycle recruitment.  Recruiter, directs and conducts all aspects of physician recruitment including sourcing, interviewing, selection and placement of physicians for employment including administration of contract negotiations. 

The Physician Recruiter will interact with management and key stakeholders to create and deliver strategic recruitment initiatives that result in successful clinician recruitment and retention.  Recruiter establishes and maintains effective relationships with and delivers exceptional service to candidates, physician leaders, practice leaders, and system executives.

The ideal candidate will understand clinician staffing needs, develop effective marketing campaigns to attract potential clinician candidates.  In addition, the recruiter represents NEMG/YNHHS at recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Works with NEMG management to develop short- and long-range Physician recruitment plans.
  • Develops and coordinates specialized programs in furtherance of recruitment goals.
  • Assists with the facilitation of candidate site visits including itinerary development/coordination, travel arrangements for candidate and spouse/family as appropriate, and coordination of reimbursement for any out of pocket expenses incurred by candidates.
  • Develops, in conjunction with client a recruitment/staffing strategy for the filling of current and projected open positions.
  • Source physician and/or advanced practice provider candidates through multiple channels, including management of third party partnerships/relationships to meet demands of ongoing search needs. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all physician and advanced practice provider employment platforms in order to assist with candidate inquiries.
  • Reviews new requisitions, expense reduction plans, etc.; resolves any problems with department management.
  • Develops operational plans for short- and long-term recruitment strategies.
  • Assists with the development of recruitment and retention strategies to meet current and projected recruitment and retention staffing needs.
  • Screens, interviews, assesses and develops appropriate documentation on all appropriate applicants, using a standardized format in order to facilitate consistency in the communications of each applicant's qualifications.
  • Advises NEMG management of the relative strengths and weaknesses of various candidates in order to assure constant selection of the most qualified individuals. Includes gathering of references and other pertinent data, as well as assessing the short- and long-term potential for success on the job.
  • Hires applicants selected by NEMG management and consults with management to assure that the proper salary level is assigned; collaborates with Compensation staff on unique or market driven salary discrepancies.
  • Assesses and responds to feedback on hiring processes as appropriate.
  • Utilizes technology to maintain metrics, applicant tracking management.
  • Participates in a variety of off-site Physician Career Events. Represents NEMG and all five hospitals at appropriate recruitment events.
  • Manages all immigration documents and the visa/permanent resident application process and functions as a liaison between physician/staff and legal counsel, both internal and external.
  • Uses an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to source, document and hire on all appropriate applicants, using a standardized format in order to facilitate consistency in the communications of each applicant's qualifications.
  • Processes all new hire information in HR System to ensure employee obtains paychecks and benefits.

 

Additional Information

EDUCATION

 

Position requires Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or closely related field, with a thorough working knowledge of Human Resources practices and employment techniques, and a thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations affecting employment.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Physician recruitment involving in depth exposure to employment practices, interviewing and applicant assessment, state and federal laws and regulations, and various other areas of Human Resources (in Healthcare preferred.) National certification in Healthcare Recruitment or related discipline or active member of state regional or national association in related field preferred.

 

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Exceptional communication skills, exceptional writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel.  Demonstrated proficiency with automated recruitment applicant-tracking system.  Ability to travel

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged. Must have a valid Driver's License.
