SUMMARY
This position reports to the manager of Interpreter Services and provides accurate, interpretation of medical information between providers and patients. Candidates adhere to the standards of medical Interpreting.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's with a concentration in language or an allied medical field (or equivalent combination of education , training and/or experience. RID certification and registration with the CT DORS (Department of Rehabilitation Services) are required for this job
EXPERIENCE
One-year medical interpreting or equivalent. Experience in a healthcare setting helpful, preferably in a hospital environment. Background in handling a variety of customers at all socio -economic levels. Demonstrated experience with the use of digital phones, smart phones, computers and commonly used computer software. Understanding of Deaf culture.
LICENSURE
RID certification and registered with the CT DORS (Department of Rehabilitation Services)
SPECIAL SKILLS
Must be fluent in ASL and English. Proven ability to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team and to work without direct supervision. Ability to complete accurate data entry and various computer skills. Bilingual knowledge of medical vocabulary.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Sitting 20-50% of the day, Standing or ambulating 80% of the day, Able to move quickly through a large, multi-floored complex with many buildings and off-site locations. Visual acuity sufficient to read printed matter.
