SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Central Sterile Supply, the High Level Disinfection (HLD) Safety & Quality Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all areas of HLD operations are performing best practices and are compliant with all standards and regulatory requirements across Y-NHH. The HLD specialist will develop, plan, implement and coordinate the orientation and continuing education of personnel performing HLD and related functional areas of Y-NHH. The HLD specialist will work in conjunction with other department managers to evaluate department practice, staff performance, and responsibilities and duties. Based on assessment and evaluation, the HLD specialist will determine training needs, quality assurance requirements and /or educational programs required for staff. The HLD specialist will also assess the physical environment where the process is occurring to be sure to meet all regulatory requirements for the health and safety of both the staff and patients.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in a health related field preferred, or a minimum of 5-8 year's hospital experience in a CSS Leadership role.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Two (2) years of experience with extensive knowledge of instrumentation, Operating Room (OR), Central Sterile Supply (CSS), and/or High Level Disinfection (HLD) operations or related experience. Experience with new high level disinfection technologies is preferred. Certification in Sterile Processing or related certification is preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Interaction and development of relationships with managers and staff of all levels, independent decision making, sensitivity to organizational structures and ability to function independently in critical situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of computer software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Demonstrated ability to provide education. Knowledgeable of materials management systems including inventory, ordering and utilization monitoring and reporting id preferred. Knowledge of AAMI, TJC, OSHA, AORN and other professional organizations principles and guidelines as they relate to HLD.
