Under the guidance of the Director, Yale-New Haven Transplantation Center (YNHTC), the Transplant Compliance Coordinator is responsible for auditing the adherence to the transplant centers policies and procedures regarding the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and the Center for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS). This includes oversight to the transmission of individual transplant patient data through the UNOS UNET database system. This position reports to the Vice President of Administration at YNHH for administrative issues and to the Director, YNHTC for clinical issues.

Responsibilities

• 1. Monitors policy changes related to UNET and assesses impact to operations within the YNHTC. Assists with the development and/or revisions to internal operating policies to ensure compliance.
• 2. Reviews medical charts to ensure compliance with UNOS and CMS policies and procedures and report findings to the Director, YNHTC.
• 3. In collaboration with the Hospital Quality Management department, performs routine audits of the data submitted via the UNET application, ensuring accuracy as well as timeliness.
• 4. Monitors compliance with UNOS and CMS policies and conduct routine audit reviews.
• 5. Participates as a member of the YNHTC Quality Assurance and Program Improvement Committee (QA/PI), providing reports as requested by the Director, YNHTC.
• 6. Maintains current knowledge of applicable UNOS policies and bylaws and CMS Conditions of Participation for Transplant Centers and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Completion of bachelors degree in health care related field., Current RN Licensure in the State of Connecticut. Master's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

1. Minimum one year experience in supervisory position., 2. At least 3-5 years experience in a patient care setting., 3. Application knowledge of computerization and various software packages, including Microsoft office and aptitude for developing a working knowledge of various transplant databases.., 4. Team leading, public speaking experience., Supervision primarily maintained through periodic conferences, consultations, reports and evaluation of results with the Director, YNHTC, Working knowledge and experience with data reporting systems, and medical chart auditing., Three to five years of recent experience in transplant data reporting systems, including UNet., Experience working in transplantation.
