Works collaboratively with the Nurse Manager displaying leadership in management, clinical practice, performance improvement and staff development in accordance with the overall philosophy and goals of Patient Care Services. Participates in the facilitation of patient flow to internal and external resources: the facilitation of efficient operations to support the delivery of patient care; and the ongoing management of regulatory and organizational compliance requirements. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, he/she is responsible for the direction of patient care as well as patient care activities, unit operations, and staff functions. Responsibilities

  • 1. Demonstrates advanced skill in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient health care needs.
    • 1.1 Demonstrates advanced skills in collecting healthcare data for completion of the admission assessment.
  • 2. Manages the performance of nurses and staff to facilitate clinical and service excellence.
    • 2.1 Reviews resumes and applications and identifies candidates to participate in the selection process.
  • 3. Manages the ongoing delivery of quality patient care and facilitates patient flow to internal and external resources.
    • 3.1 Receives and provides report, and evaluates volume, patients' status, staffing resources and operational requirements and deploys resources accordingly.
  • 4. Manages and administers clinical and operational resources to facilitate the delivery of patient care.
    • 4.1 Prepares and executes the schedules of PCT, RN, and Business Clericals to meet ongoing patient and operational requirements and in consideration of budget constraints.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors degree in Nursing major preferred. Degreed ANM must earn 10 contact hours annually. Non-agreed ANM must complete 6 credit hours towards a bachelor's degree and 6 contact hours annually.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Previous PCU or Critical Care Experience required, Previous leadership experience preferred (Charge RN, Preceptor, Professional Governance).

 

LICENSURE

 

Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights.
