Under the supervision of the Ultrasound Manager and/or Tech Specialist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality Ultrasound exams as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed in accordance with according departmental and organizational policies and procedures., Promotes service excellence in all interactions as outlined in the Key Behaviors in the YNHH Core Success Factors. Additionally, the Sonographer 2 is expected to work independently and assist others, help with daily oversight of operations, is capable of problem solving and take corrective action as necessary, and may be asked to assume responsibility for Ultrasound department operations in the absence of a supervisor. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location. Has responsibility during off shift hours to perform sonography procedures as part of the an on call Sonographer rotation .

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required to meet one of the following:
Graduate of an accredited (CAAHEP) School of Diagnostic Sonography. AS degree preferred but not required. ,
AS degree and graduate of an accredited Allied Health program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full
time instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.,
Graduate of Bachelor's program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full time instruction in Diagnostic
Medical Sonography.
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of comprehensive ultrasound experience to include advanced imaging techniques. Demonstrated above average technical skills and excellent communication skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficient in advanced ultrasound imaging techniques, above average knowledge of computer / Pacs applications, demonstrated leadership ability, and good organizational and communication/customer service skills.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
RDMS certification to include Abdomen (ABD) and Vascular (RVT) are required. (OB) certification also desirable. CPR certification also preferred.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be able to lift (patient transfers) and push 40 lbs (portable US equipment).
