The Pharmacy Technician III, Home Infusion will perform technical duties associated with the delivery of pharmaceutical services, including, but not limited to: medication distribution, inventory management, Cross-Functional Proficiency, demonstrating Technical Expertise, and other duties, within scope of practice, as dictated by departmental need. Demonstration of leadership qualities as evidenced by impact on pharmacy operations and on junior personnel. Leverage advanced knowledge and skills to succeed and encourage success/growth in others.

Responsibilities
- 1. Prepare and compound sterile parenteral/enteral pharmaceutical and chemotherapeutic agents under pharmacist's supervision, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
- 2. Perform accurate prescription order entry processes that are held for pharmacist?s review and authorization.
- 3. Initiate and complete delivery forms.
- 4. Attend and participate in all patient care meetings and conferences.
- 5. Prepare, record and monitor results for pharmaceutical quality assurance testing.
- 6. Assist in maintaining the pharmacy facility in adherence to Policy and Procedures for achievement of excellent audit results.
- 7. Responsible for knowing and adhering to Policy and Procedures governing pharmacy operations.
- 8. Assist pharmacist(s) in inventory procedures including record keeping and ordering. Log and shelve incoming inventory.
- 9. Organize assigned work load to best facilitate its accomplishment.
- 10. Work along with managers, supervisors, charge pharmacists to coordinate the technical operations of the department, including, but not limited to: coordination of sick calls, breaks, deliveries and other day to day technical activities.
- 11. Maintain the confidentiality of patients and their personal information at all times.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree desirable. Successful completion of an academic or military hospital pharmacy technician training course preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year experience in pharmacy preparations for parenteral/enterals, intravenous antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents. TPN compounding experience is preferred.
LICENSURE
Current registration or eligible for registration (within 45 days of hire) as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Connecticut, as outlined by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, or equivalent, is required on, or within 6 months of, date of hire.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficiency in mathematical calculations. Ability to effectively work with computer and technology equipment, including the ability to perform detailed troubleshooting related to said technology.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Travel may be required.
