Performs Computed Tomography procedures under the direction of a radiologist using appropriate professional and technical skills to produce quality images for medical diagnosis or treatment. May assist the CT technologist but does not actual scan patients except under direct supervision.
1.1 Uses technical skill and knowledge of cross- section anatomy to perform CT exams using appropriate
1.2 Review requisitions and RIS orders, contrast questionnaires and prescribed scan protocols to ensure
that each patient is scanned appropriately, without needed repeat studies due to technologist error.
1.3 Identifies patients accurately 100% of the time using designated scripts for communication as directed
according to departmental policy as observed by supervisor or other hospital staff .
1 .4 Reports and documents designated quality assurance responsibilities such as:
- Patient contrast reactions or extravasations
- Patient injures or complaints
- Equipment malfunctions
- Procedure time - out
- Missing or inappropriate exam requisitions
- Enters initials into scanner as per ACR guidelines
2.1 Has minimal inactive scanner time between patients n order to maximize the section' s efficiency and
minimize patient delays as observed by supervisor or physician.
2 .2 Assists the physician/ radiologist as needed with CT guided medical procedures.
2.3 Proactively assumes responsibility to monitor patient exam RIS worklist i.e. review lab values, patient
allergies, pregnancy test, obtains IV access, orders and sends contrast to patient area's, acquires
protocols for exams within 15 min. of the exam order.
2.4 Operates the scanner using age and dose appropriate protocols and related medical equipment
necessary to produce quality CT images for diagnosis or treatment safely and efficiently .
3.1 Identifies patient accurately and consistently uses connect point scripts according to departmental
policy as observed by supervisor or other Hospital staff .
3 .2Thoroughly explains the procedure and ensures patient physical and emotional comfort as observed by
supervisor/manager, and noted by patient comments or surveys.
3.3 Is attentive to patient care needs and expediently calls for nursing and/or physician medical support, as
required, as evidenced by incident reports and employee, physician and nursing input.
3.4 Is attentive and responsive to the concerns of all patients and their families, as noted by
supervisor/manager, and evidenced by no more than one patient complaint.
3.5 Ensures a Clean and Safe environment through daily exam room inspections. Recognize and perform
tasks needed to foster good patient care sure as room preparation, restocking supplies, and offering
assistance to others when possible on a daily basis.
3.6 Performs IV insertion using aseptic techniques and administer IV and or Oral contrast media under the
direction of a CT Technologist and Radiologist

4.1 Relays pertinent info. to the radiologists or RTR to minimize errors due to lack of communication ,
especially during change of shift, (no more than 4 complaints /quarter), of communication not passed
4 .2 Under the direction of the RT performs network PACS and RIS functions, especially editing and
completing exams appropriately, to ensure the accuracy of patient billing and medical records, with no
more than 3 variances per review period.
4 .3 Retrieves and enters patient data into the Scanning console, RIS, PACS with accuracy as observed and
reviewed in error reports.
4 .4 Assists CSA, scheduler, PFAS, MDs, secretaries and RNs with scheduling, pre-auth. and patient prep.

4 .5 Maximize team effort and patient throughput, ex.s room prep, restocking supplies, and offering
assistance to others when own assignments are completed, as observed by supervisor or others, with
no more than 3/quarter.
4 .6 Reports/ records QA initiatives such as: patient contrast reactions /extravasations, injuries /complaints,
Equipment malfunctions, radiation dose, time-outs, Missing/ inappropriate exam reqs. (described in the
department QA program), with no more than 4 variances per year as noted by supervisor and QA
knowledge and expertise to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
5.1 Is receptive to teaching C.T. technologist, student technologists, radiology residents and fellows, as
observed by the supervisor, and from input provided from these students.
5 .2 Keeps current with mandated hospital, Healthstream, CBT, and other department required training
program each year, as recorded by supervisor/manager.
5 .3 Maintains active professional registration/certification and state licensure and provides documentation,
as recorded by supervisor/manager.
5 .4 Keeps current of technical field through reading reference journals and materials or in-services provided
by department as observed by supervisor.

6.1 Is receptive to teaching Radiology Students, residents, and other employees as observed by the
supervisor, and from input provided from these professionals.
6 .2 Staff will fully explain procedure and ask if the patient has any additional questions about the procedure.
6 .3 Staff will address any comfort issues a patient may have prior to starting procedure.
6.4 Staff will thank patient once procedure is completed and ask the patient if they have any additional

EDUCATION (number of years and type required to perform the position duties):
Satisfactory completion of an A.M.A. approved program in Radiologic Technology REQUIRED. ARRT Certified and
licensed by the state CT in radiologic technology.(Courses in cross-section anatomy preferred.) Must pursue
A.R.R.T. certification in computed tomography. AS degree required, BS degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE (number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance):
One (1) year full-time experience as a Radiologic Technologist PREFERRED and must demonstrate competency
performing routine CT exams within six (6) months of commencement of CT training program.
Familiar with general PC applications and basic cross section anatomy. Must have demonstrated exceptional ability
with radiographic imaging, customer service, and teamwork.
ACCOUNTABILITY (how this position is held accountable for such as goals achievement, budget adherence, or
other areas of accountability):
Must meet expectations of job responsibilities and performance standards as stated in the criteria based job
description, and as stated in the performance appraisal supplement. Performance will be assessed continually and
reviewed after six (6) months by supervisor.
