Performs Lead Technician functions as assigned by Manager. Oversees daily operations of assigned shift. Performs all reprocessing activities of instrumentation, supplies and equipment used for patient care. Ensures receipt, collection and transportation of all contaminated instruments and supplies. Ensures operation and cleanliness of all department equipment. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Competent and physically able to perform all duties in CSS independently (Decontam, Assembly, Sterilization and Distribution). No current written disciplinary actions. Meet or exceed production standards. Must maintain Central Sterile certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM. Minimum 1 year supervisory or Lead tech experience in Central Sterile Processing or Operating room environment with extensive knowledge of instrumentation, OR medical and surgical supplies and OR/CSS operations.
LICENSURE
Central Sterile Technician Certification required from CSBPD or IAHCSMM
SPECIAL SKILLS
This staff member is in a leadership role as a representative from CSS (Ambassador) to the Operating room, a direct link from CSS to a Service Specific Leader in the OR. They are to display professional behaviors while in and out of the CSS at all times and are always willing to learn. Each Lead tech would expedite service specific instrument tray changes under the supervision of the CSS manager. They are to attend cluster specific team meetings monthly and attend in-service specific seminars a minimum of 1 per year.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle,or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
