Performs a variety of duties including the reception of patients, scheduling, typing, billing, phone answering and record maintenance. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Receives and registers all patients and directs accordingly.
    • 1.1 Receives all guests courteously and promptly as indicated by feedback from visitors and patients.
  • 2. Answers the phone and takes messages.
    • 2.1 Courteously answers the telephone with a greeting, identifying department and self as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • 3. Reviews requisition/order form.
    • 3.1 Verifies that all pertient information on patient's orders are accurate and complete in accordance with department policy as observed by supervisor.
  • 4. Schedules all patient activities for assigned section.
    • 4.1 Efficiently and accurately schedules appointments according to department protocols as indicated by staff and physician feedback.
  • 5. Prepares and arranges preparation orders on all patients.
    • 5.1 Notifies/instructs patients, physician's offices, and/or nursing units of preparation orders essential for examination prior to scheduled appointment as indicated by feedback and supervisory observation.
  • 6. Arranges for retrieves previous patient records.
    • 6.1 Submits request for previous records prior to patients scheduled appointment.
  • 7. Types all applicable information into the computer system.
    • 7.1 Types all demographic patient information into department computer system according to department protocols as observed by the supervisor.
  • 8. Attends to patients needs while in Imaging holding areas.
    • 8.1 Keep open lines of communication with patients keeping them informed at all times.
  • 9. Prepares all necessary paperwork required for patients scheduled procedure.
  • 10. Work with ordering physican offices to obtain pertient information required for scheduling of patients.
    • 10.1 Obtain insurance authorization and approvals from ordering physician office for procedures.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

3-12 months of experience.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They may frequently be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. They may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation. They are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis.
