Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex Ultrasound Imaging equipment. Is cognizant of age specific standards. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. Graduation from high school required. Previous training in a health care related field required. Baccalaureate Degree preferred. Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound program. At least six (6) months to one (1)year of specialized training in targeted Level II Perinatal, invasive procedure scanning, (intrauterine procedures including CVS, amniocentesis, PUBs etc.) and fetal echo ultrasound imaging required. RDMS and CPR certification required.
Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in Perinatal Diagnostic Ultrasound including in depth experience in targeted Level II Perinatal, invasive procedure scanning, (intrauterine procedures including CVS, amniocentesis, PUBs etc) and fetal echo ultrasound imaging required. Knowledge of and experience with computerized documentation systems required. Prior experience and participation in research and grant-funded activities required.
Registered Sonographer, Nuchal Certified
Excellent theoretical knowledge of anatomy, pathology and demonstrated proficiency in the use of ultrasound equipment. Must be proficient and accurate in obtaining sonographic images and in discriminating images selected for interpretation. Must possess outstanding communication and organizational skills. Required to interact with patients and families to provide information about the content of the sonogram, as it is being conducted. Must possess excellent technical skills in the guidance of invasive procedures including CVS, PUBs, Amniocentesis, etc). Must be able to work accurately, independently and efficiently in order to complete a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) scans per day.
Travel as needed to other MFM locations per staffing needs.
