Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) to five (5) years nursing experience in Orthopaedic nursing. Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings preferred. Experience in a combination of the following is essential: clinical care, clinical process improvement, outcomes management, and physician relations. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
LICENSURE
Connecticut RN license required. BLS certification required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, complex academic medical environment where the Navigator works as a valued member of the multidisciplinary team. Background in Orthopaedics required. Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient EPIC preferred. Must possess understanding of clinical processes. Must be self- motivated, goal oriented and able to work independently. Must have the ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively and effectively in partnership with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and hospital departments. Must have excellent assessment, communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities. Excellent critical thinking, analysis and assessment skills for successful process improvement planning and monitoring. Proficient in EPIC and Excel.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be able to drive to various sites and may be required to attend evening meetings.
