Job Description

Overview

A member of the nursing staff who performs specific duties relating to the ordering, receiving, and distributing of supplies. He/She will report to the DNS or a designed member of nursing administration. He/She will report on duty to the day supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Delivers Medical/Surgical a. Delivers Medical/Surgical supplies as per Supply Room policies. b. Delivers exchange carts to each nursing unit, restocks carts as needed. c. Daily checks supply of PPE on units and restocks. d. Ensures adequate quantities of other supplies on the units, such as Enteral supplies, washcloths, gloves, etc. e. Delivers personal care items (soap, lotion) to each unit as requested, at least weekly and as needed. f. Adjusts par levels of supplies as resident and staff needs changes.
  • 2. Responds immediately to calls requesting medical/surgical supplies.
  • 3. Orders Medical/Surgical supplies a. Sends in weekly written orders for all medical/surgical and personal care supplies. b. Monitors and adjusts par levels of supplies ordered to ensure adequate supplies are available. c. Receives all supplies and verifies items delivered with packaging lists. Forwards completed packing list to HSR Purchasing or supervisor. Contacts suppliers in the event deliveries are not correct and resolve issues. Notifies supervisor if unable to resolve problems. d. Keeps a file on items in the storeroom and vendors that supply the items. e. Keeps an ongoing list of supplies delivered to each nursing unit. f. Maintains and updates supply locator list.
  • 4. Works on committees and attends meetings as requested.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


High School Graduate


EXPERIENCE


Minimum of at least three years experience in a health care facility-preferably long term care. Familiar with medical/surgical supplies and equipment.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Demonstrates good physical and mental health. Demonstrates good communication skills (handwriting, telephone skills, interpersonal). Maintains a professional appearance. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Demonstrates mathematical skills, such as addition subtraction, division, multiplication and percentages.
