Responsible for phlebotomy services within the practice. Conveys a positive image of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Performs patient care responsibilities as assigned.
    • 1.1 Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room.
  • 2. Performs clerical responsibilities as assigned.
    • 2.1 Sends/receives patient medical records.
  • 3. Performs environmental responsibilities as assigned.
    • 3.1 Sets up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
  • 4. Performs other related organizational duties as assigned.
    • 4.1 Respects and promotes patients' rights.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


High Schools diploma, some college preferred. Graduation from an accredited Medical assistant Program.


EXPERIENCE


Minimum of one year work experience in a medical practice. Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Previous Phlebotomy experience is required.


LICENSURE


Maintains CPR Certification.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Skill in performing tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged.
