High Schools diploma, some college preferred. Graduation from an accredited Medical assistant Program.
Minimum of one year work experience in a medical practice. Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Previous Phlebotomy experience is required.
Maintains CPR Certification.
Skill in performing tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged.
