The Nurse Coordinator is a Registered Nurse, reporting to Nursing leadership within the Children's Transplantation Unit and under the direction and supervision of the Attending Physician for the BMT/Transplant Service. The primary role of the nurse coordinator is to ensure seamless coordination of patient care accross the continuum. This includes clinical practice, care coordination, education for patients, family members and staff, quality improvement, understanding of research principles and protocols, with significant latititude for exercising professional judgement. The Nurse Coordinator is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team providing developmentally approprioate care to patients and families within the Transplant Service..

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Registered Nurse , Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree preferred, Connecticut RN license.
EXPERIENCE
At least 2-3 years experience in a pediatric inpatient or outpatient setting, Prefer experience in hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant.
LICENSURE
Licensed as a Registered Nurse from the State of Connecticut.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to assert oneself, advocate for patients, and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Computer experience and knowledge of word processing and data entry systems. Must be able to communicate efffectively with all members of the healthcare team, patients and families. Must value and execute "patient -centered model of care."
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be flexible to meet the demands of the specialty, outpatient clinic session, specialty and patient/family needs
Additional Information
Minimum 3 years experience as a Hematology/Oncology/BMT Nurse.
Knowledge of BMT/CAR-T treatments. Experience with collaboration and coordination or patient care.
Responsible for organization of patient information, education and pre/post transplant work-up.
