The main function of the Andrology Outreach support personnel is to represent the hospital to the public in an efficient, caring manner. Daily duties will vary and include reception, registration, data entry, phlebotomy, preparing patient labels, physicians' office communication and problem solving. Other duties include assisting in the andrology and phlebotomy laboratories as requested in addition to cross covering all Greenwich Fertility phlebotomy and andrology laboratories. Clerical duties include photo copying, scanning, filing, etc. Exhibit a caring and courteous manner to all patients and guests is required. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities exhibiting a caring and courteous manner to all patients and guests. Promotes teamwork and quality in all interactions with co -workers, physicians, physician offices, nurses and other departments. Presents professional image while actively promotes the Hospital's and the Department's Mission, Vision, Values and Goals.
  • 2. Obtain blood samples from patients by venipuncture or skin puncture observing proper phlebotomy technique and patient identification policies. Perform proper patient identification and labeling of specimens according to Policies and Procedures .Respond immediately to STAT requests. Prepare and print patient labels. Assist in the efficient operation of the lab draw stations by being flexible and open minded to the departmental needs. i.e. flexibility to alternative draw stations.
  • 3. Assists with the preparation of semen "washes" for artificial insemination procedures. Performs quality control and maintain all equipment and reagents and media in accordance to the Departmental Policy & Procedure manual.
  • 4. Obtain all necessary information and prepare all required forms for registration documenting every patient seen. Complete knowledge of the registration procedure to enter /scan this information into the computer system
  • 5. Perform necessary data entry including but not limited to SART data.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

High School Diploma is required. College or technical school courses are preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Previous phlebotomy experience preferred (2 years). Computer familiarity and keyboard skills are required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Good computer skills required for data entry, reporting, and statistics reporting utilizing EMR and Excel spreadsheets. Must have knowledge of WORD and Outlook and email. Good written and verbal communication skills. Close concentration and attention to detail are required. The phlebotomy activity requires manual dexterity with an excellent fine motor skills. Working with patients directly, a great deal of emphasis is placed on patient interpersonal skills.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

Phlebotomy may require extended periods of standing bent over patients. Lifting of medium weight objects. Long periods of typing and data entry. Intense concentration with computers involving data entry.
